LoL, my 6 year old boy eyes all my models and sometimes asks to build one. He always seems to pick the most expensive ones. I cringe for a second, but then I come back to my senses and just appreciate that he likes planes and models like I do. He just started building by himself with non-toxic glue. It’s really fun to watch him.
Hey Guys,
My name is Connor, call me Terminator, my dad is JoeRugby and he let me take this kit. Thanks to Jay for letting me start early. We were going to start on Saturday but my dad and I went to get a Foster’s Burger…they are awesome, and almost as big as my head…yum yum good!
I am looking forward to doing this Group Build with you guys!
Welcome Terminator. I’ll bet you terminated that Foster’s Burger [:)]. Good luck with your build.
Regards, Rick
Great to have you Conn… er Terminator! You look about the same age as I was when I first started. Maybe in a couple years you be able to make better models than your dad! [;)]
Looking forward to seeing your Mustang, one of my favourite aircraft!
Welcome aboard Terminator
Jay It looks like I’ll definitly be doing Donald Morrisons Spit MK Vb. I don’t have all my bits to make William Klersys MK IX at this time, who knows I might do both (Yeah right who am I kidding).
Cheers
Bear
Hey Marc! Long time no post! Haven’t seen ya around much lately. I’ll make the changes to the front page.
Hi Jay, thanks I know I’ve been playing catch up with all the posts and progress in all the GB’s and my own lack of progress. I’ve been given a new fleet type in addition to the two I already have. I’m now have the new B787 Dreamliner’s minimum equipment list. It’s no even built yet and we’ve (Boeing & Airlines) already started working on the draft of the minimum equipment list very cool but also demanding it’s cutting into my build time[:(]. I’m hoping that by the time this GB starts things will get back to normal or something close enough I’m in styrene withdrawl, sorry for the ranting it feels good though.
Cheers
Bear
Welcome the build Connor, err I mean Terminator I’ll look forward to seeing your work posted along with your dad’s.
Joe I kind of feel a connection with Connor’s nickname, my two girls are code named Search and Destroy [:D].
Well I got my Cutting Edge decals in the mail last night and I must say I’m a little disappointed. There is no placement guide for anything other than the stencils and you are only shown the aircraft from one side in profile and under wing. Given that this aircraft has invasion stripes I have no idea at all if they are supposed to cover the tops of the wings as well. I think I’m supposed to just “know” what the hidden side to the aircraft looks like and what decals go where [:(!]
To top it off the nose art is decidedly average and does not contain the shading known to be behind it. This image comes from another manufacturer’s decal sheet of the same aircraft and shows the nose art shading as it should look.
Cheers
Hey
I think I found the plane Im going to do.It will most likely be Lt.Louis Curdes plane ‘bad angel’ P-51D.
He had one 7 German Kills, 1 Italian,1 Japanese and 1 American kill.
Heres some more info- http://www.82ndfightergroup.com/95misc%20-%20Louis%20E%20Curdes.htm
Darren, I am doing this same bird as we speak for the p-47 build and it is disapointing there is no veiw of the top of the wing.[tdn] Thats why it has sat on my bench for 3 to 4 weeks with no progress.[banghead] Let me know if you find any info on it, and I will do the same.
Thad
Darren, I’m going to guess that since the invasion stripes do not cover the top half of the fuselage, then they would not appear on the top of the wing. I’m not familiar with that particular plane, but all of the others I have seen that have stripes on the top side of the wings also have the stripes all of the way around the fuselage. Just my guess.
Dave
I just read an article on Hyperscale about a new Airfix 1:48 Spitfire Mk IXc. anyone else know about this kit? Does anyone have any thoughts? The article said it was actully pretty decent but still not perfect. I think I may have to pick one up.
Thad, thanks for the offer mate. This is the only image that I have of Fred Christensen and it clear shows what I was talking about with the nose art. Also
Also just browsing through the decal dungeon last night I was struck by the fact that Cutting Edge also doesn’t supply information on what type of prop Christensen’s plane used. This is an important piece of information for me as there are three in the kit to choose from.
Dave, that would be my guess too, it’s just a shame that they make us guess.
Jay, have a look at the Revell AG Spitfire Mk.IXc as well. It’s a re-boxing of the Hasegawa kit (at about two thirds the price of the original) which IMHO is excellent.
Cheers
He killed both Axis, and 1 Allied? I guess that the latter was an error?
Edited to add:
I mean by error, an act of friendly fire.
Must have been. Kozhedub shot down 2 USAF P-51D’s when they mistakenly attacked him. (Thought he was an Fw-190 when he was flying his La-7)
Darren-thanks for the tip on the Revell AG Spitfire Mk. IX. There is one sitting on the shelf of my LHS and I was wandering about the quality of the kit. Might have to add that one to the collection of unbuilt models waiting for a Group Build.
Well the Termninator and I got started tonight. Thanks again Jay for letting him get into this. He has been eyeballing my stash for quite some time and talks to no end about the Group Build. This is him spraying interior green. No practice at all, just picked it up and went right at it. He even masked the parts with no help at all.
Cool Joe[8D], soon the Terminator will be cranking them out faster than you can say finished! That’s the way I like to do it too, jump in with both feet, who needs practise anayway?[(-D]
Looking good Terminator.[tup]
Way to go Terminator [tup].
Regards, Rick
Terminator [#ditto] Keep up the good work.
Cheers
