Hey yall, I have the 1/350 Admiral Chabanenko from Trumpeter, the color scheme they have in the instructions is the light grey. I’m trying to paint this ship as I saw it in 2007 when I got to go on board for FRUKUS, the ship was painted what appears to be all black. I cant find any references on the Russian Navy color schemes but read something about it being Baltic Sea Black? I appreciate the help yall!
I did some googling around and came to resolutionhobbies.com, the current manufacturer of WEM Colourcoats enamel paints. They list a Russian Baltic Fleet Gray which I would call a Blue Gray https://resolutionhobbies.com/cdn/shop/files/M-20.jpg?v=1731502337&width=823
It is listed as Out of Stock/Out of Production. The color appears to match images of the Chabaneko and other Baltic units. I used a US Navy early war Blue Gray on my Russian Kommuna salvage vessel
I don’t know if this will help but I did a quick Google search for Russian naval color scheme and found this forum:
The third post in the thread has ship color recommendations from the Soviet Navy.
Oh, lordy, I’m not even gonna think about clicking on that. I have literally spent days reading through threads and researching specific aircraft colors, the last thing I need to do is get into Soviet Navy stuff!
No worries. This is a rabbit hole for the OP! He’ll need to learn Russian so he can read the color descriptions, so it may be a deep rabbit hole. Hopefully, we see him back here very soon.
I can help with Russian translations if need be
