I have the Academy 1/48 F86 that has a beautiful colorful decal sheet but have read awful warnings from other modelers saying it’s very poor qualty. At some time Academy replaced them with Cartograph ones.

WEll the M10 is done. Added some resin stowage and minor weathering.

That’s a really good looking finish! Everything came together just right. On thing you may want to go back and address is the charging handle on the .50 cal… Those had a wooden or plastic grab area, just like the spade grips.

BTW: Did you use the shells in the kit? When I built my M10 years ago I painted the shells multiple times and never got them to look like anything other than painted plastic and finally just bought a set of turned brass shells and used them. I love how yours turned out.

Gamera, Yes they are plastic ones from the kit. I hand brushed on several coats of Alclad Gold for the casings and MM metalizar grey for the projectiles then polished them with an old cotton rag. The resin stowage is from Ebay.

Cool, thanks! I tried painting my shells with Model Master brass and just didn’t like the look of them. I’ve not tried handbrushing Alclad- I’ll give it a try next time I get in the same situation.

You are welcome Gamera. One can actually hand brush Alclad and mm metalizers on small

parts with great results.
