60th Anniversary Korean War Group Build- extended for the duration

In remembrance of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, this GB kicks off on June 25th 2010 and runs thru July 27 2011 now 2013. Any kit from any active combatant, land, sea, or air is allowed. Also allowed, in light of the current standoff in Korea and any commemorative schemes/events, are any current equipment from the ROK, DPRK, or USA currently stationed in Korea. Previously started and crossover builds are welcome. The main point is to build, have fun as such, and remember. This war saw many firsts- first jet vs jet combat, first wide scale use of helicopters in many combat roles, first open combat between the superpowers in the Cold War, the first modern ‘limited’ war. If you have a question about eligibility, ask away. I will do my best to get an answer for you ASAP.

****Edit- due to great participation and by agreeemnt of many participants, the end date has been extended to match that of the 60th anniversary of the Cease Fire July 27 2013.

It is gonna last for over a year, so if you wanna tackle the F-82 (Revell is slated to reissue the old Monogram 1/72 kit later this year) there should be time for this.

OK Stik, I figured it out. I will “attempt” to build the Italeri H-19 in 1/72. I was going to get the Fonderie Miniatures HO3S-1. I see that Helo is building that chopper from Mach 2. I figured I will do my part to get as many different subjects in the GB.

I will start this in a little while as I have another GB commitment that involves a Revell 1/48 B-1B Lancer. As soon as I want to throw that kit against a wall I will start the H-19. This is my 2nd helicopter so be easy on me. haha.

I’ll be building either a Tamiya Mig15 or Tamiya M26, both 1/48. It all depends which I get my hands on first. Going to a distant hobby shop in a week or two to see what they have, otherwise I’ll have to resort to ebay again.

I’d like to join this group build also. I participated in the 1st Korean War Group Build but never completed my 2nd build which is the Monogram 1/48 A/B-26-B Invader with the Eduards’ Big Ed set plus the Quickboost engines and cowls. It is approximately 25% complete with a long way to go. Let me know if this qualifies. Thanks!

Since this is a Korean War GB, can anyone help me identify a movie I remember seeing? I’m pretty sure it was based on Korea. All I remember is it was black and white, and this one pilot had a spotter type aircrafy that he thought of putting a radio in and he called in an airstrike from some jets on some North Korean tanks. Does it ring a bell to anyone? Its been a long time since I’ve seen it and thats all I can really tell you.

Stik,will comit with the kit I have already started and that is the Italeri F4U-4B. Believe this will give me the kick in the pants I need to finish her. Will post pics soon of previous progress and then WIP shots. Have an Engines and things resin mill which i doctored up the front and an Eduard zoom set for the office plus a few other bits. Going to drop the flaps and hang ordanance. Looking forward to seeing the great work that will be present!!!
