Things have kind of been slow at the bench lately, mainly cause the bass are biting. Anyhoo, I’ve finally been able to get this monster ready for paint. I guess I’m posting this so I have some kind of proof that detail painting was done inside this pig. I am going to open the cargo door and top hatch, and you should be able to see a little of what’s going on in there.
P.S. I’m having a ball with this kit.[:D]
Jerry
There she is. All closed up and ready for about 6 bottles of paint![:0]
Thanks much to Duckman,Rick,Trevor,Jininth,Jon, and Mike.
Duckman, the belts were’nt much of a problem, they’re molded on.
Jon, I’m still not sure at this point what markings to use.Originally, I had thought about an alpine winter pattern simular to the “Where Eagles Dare” movie, but research is telling me that this airplane is no more than a movie prop, and no Luftwaffe aircraft wore this paint scheme. Not that this is a bad thing, I still think it would be cool to have a model from the movie. Research also tells me that winter camo, was nothing more than whitepatches applied over a standard camo pattern(70/71/65) called distemper.
Anyway, I’m probably going to wimp out, and just do a standard splinter with some gelb on the rudder and stabs.
Mike, I used some of the eduard pe set which is mostly in the cockpit. No scratch, the kit details are outstanding for a 15 year old kit.
Looks good so far !!! please keep up the pics !!! and by the way ,I think that winter sceem would be great nothing wrong with a " what if "finish!!! Let us know if you find anymore info on it cause i’m feeling inspired to build this kit now . I looked at your profile and i also play the guitar; its funny cause i never though i’d meet anyone else who builds model planes and plays guitar !!..Peter.
Hey Peter… You won’t believe it but there’s alot of guys on this forum that play guitar. This subject came up before, and alot of guys responded. Maybe not in a professional manner, but players nontheless. Pretty cool. Rock on!!! BTW, it’s the other musicians i work with that see me as a complete lunatic cause I build model airplanes. I feel in good company when I’m on this forum.
“where eagles dare” is one of my favorite movies. Clint Eastwood at his best. Ergo, I vote for that paint scheme. I play guitar also, when I have the time.
