There’s nothing wrong with keeping things simple, so it goes like this:
Build any airliner, any scale, any decals or aftermarket parts you want.
Build period is March 13, 2010 to December 31, 2010.
Crossovers are welcome.
If a build has already been started, you can enter it if it’s less than 50% completed.
Government/Military VIP aircraft are allowed as long as they are an aircraft that has also been used in liner service. For example, the VH-60 helicopters used to fly the President would be ineligible, but any of the Presidential planes would be fine, from the Sacred Cow up to the current 747. What-ifs are also OK, as long as they’re reasonable. If you’re not sure about something fitting in the build, run it by me. My goal is to be as inclusive as possible while keeping it reasonable.
I’ll finish my Minicraft 1/144 Boeing 314 “China Clipper”, its still in lots of pieces so should easily meet the less than 50% rule.
I’ve got a question, you mention the VH-60 as not meeting the requirement since it is basically a military only helo. Since the S-58 (H-34) and S-61 (H-3) have been used for commercial passenger use, then the VH-3 and VH-34 would be acceptable correct?
Not sure what I want to build. Im headed to AHS this week or next so maybe Ill grab something for the GB. I will post when I figure out what I want to do.
I think Ive narrowed it down to super vc-10, 752 or 732. The svc-10 would be Welsh fuse, Bra.z engines and leading edge fix, and Airfix wings, stabs, gear and bits. 752 would be Contrails and 732 would be Airfix. The 752 and 732 woud be oob.
I’m not entering this build, because it’s definitely more than 50% finished, but I’ll throw it on here for sharing/inspiration purposes.
This is the Braniff 707 “Jellybean” jet that whupped my but during the 2008 Airliner group build. I’m going to finish it, but for this build I’m going to enter another jellybean jet.

There’s a white glare line here that looks like a nasty seam, but I’m glad to report that it’s an optical illusion, as you’ll see in the next shot. It took me forever to deal with the upper fuselage seam, but now it’s smoother than the proverbial baby’s bottom. Thank you Bondo glazing compound!

Unfortunately, this plane suffers from the worst masking job I’ve done in a long time. Guess I need to read that masking article in this month’s issue about eight times.
She’s got bad paint and needs a bath, but she’s mine and I WILL finish her, by hook or by crook.
It’s the Minicraft 707 in 1/144. They released a bunch of different schemes, including the Braniff jellybeans, Lufthansa, Pan Am and a Northwest Orient Combi with a cargo door.
Good news: They’re cheap, seem pretty accurate (I was a KC-135 crew chief) and have nice recessed detail.
What qualifies as less than 50%? I got several Boeing 7X7 series that are put together, i.e. fuselodge and wings glued together but not attached to another. Some have primer coats on. If not I have an A380 getting shipped to me.
This GB is a nice surprise!!! IF (and that is a big one), I see I can join I have several to choose from in my stash. A Monogram 1/48 DC-3, an Italeri, 1/72 Ju-52 (civil). Big question here CD!!! I also have Heller’s 1/72 DC-6B that I had started, (WELL below the 50% mark btw) that I have started to convert to a DC-6 (short fuse hence no submodel) fire tanker (Tanker 68) and was wondering if that would be permissable?
