2010 Airliner Group Build

Thanks CD!!! My first choice would be the DC-6 , but it will be a time consumer, so yeah will let you know.

Roger that.

I’m in with a 1/72 DC-4 using the Heller DC-6 kit and Dana Kopher’s conversion bits. I also have a Heller 1049 Constellation to do but I’m not sure I’ll get time to do both.

OOOOO John, will be looking forward to that build!!! I have heard it done before and know that you can pull it off!!! I have the Connie too, but under the Airfix flag. From what I have read and pics I have seen, I’m sure it’s the same kit.

The fire tanker i mentioned before, Tanker 68, is an ex-American Airlines bird. It wore remnants of it’s lineage up until the end. Sadly it was broken up a few years ago.[:(((]

Put me down for the A380. I’ve got three other GB to finish up before I can start this one, but two of them on in the paint stage so it shouldn’t be too long before I can get to it.

Its a 1/144 Revell A380-800. The livery is going to be Qantas.

Jeaton-- Will do! Great to see you again. What livery?

B-17 Pilot-- Roger that and welcome aboard.

Well I kinda got anxious to start on my A380 so I pulled it out ahead of schedule. Since the Qantas decals come with windows for the cabin and cockpit, I am filling in all the windows for a nice smooth surface for them to lie on. I got the half of the main gear and nose gear put together along with some of the engines. I put the cockpit tub the kit provided together, but I am not going to paint it or anything, just going to use it for structure support, since I have decals for the cockpit windows.

Put plastic sheet behind all the windows to provide support for the putty later (man there’s a lot of windows)

The inner compression camber of the engines, all with some gear struts waiting for their coat of alunimum. The cockpit tub as mentioned well be left unpainted.

If I can find good enough documentation I will do the DC-4 in the colors that Ernie Gann flew it in, Matson Lines. The Constellation I think will be in Eastern colors.

Some progress has been made: Got the fuselodge joined and the wings together. The engine cores have been painted and are drying. Hopefully I can get a lot further over the holiday weekend.

B17 she’s coming along well!!! Looking forward to seeing the giant rat on the tail!!![;)]

Slow progress, but progress nonetheless. Put the engines together and the cabin windows puttied over, though after a quick sand, looks like I need to go back and recover a couple of 'em. Got a test fit of the parts to check for any fit problems later. Still need to putty the seams on the fuse, wings and engines.

The dry fit:

The “rat” will soon be on the tail!!

Still impressive size at 144!!! looking good mate!!!

Still trying to find a place for her when done. She’s bigger than the 1/48 B-17 I finished earlier!

[:O]

Progress Update: Wings have been attached and got her all ready to be painted. Still debating if’n I should put a gray primer on her first before the white goes on. Need to check seams and cover the landing gear and exhaust cones on the engines. Any way here she is all ready to be painted.

Windows all filled in:

The engines are in need of some paint

Really great progress B17!!! I think I would put a flat white primer on rather than a gray. Any light spots would show up like a sore thumb!!! Anyway you look at it it is going to be a fair amount of paint!!![t$t]

can i enter this please iv got a 10% completed 1/72 concorde

ps how the hell do i make windows?

A vast majority of airline kits come with decals for the windows. A couple give you the option of the precut windows, or decals.

Easy way, buy a decal sheet for them. Check here: http://www.airline-hobby.com

I entered but didn’t finish the last one of these. I just started a Minicraft 737-300 last week. Can I sign on?

Cheers, Aaron
