1/72 Su-25 Frogfoot PICS!

Hey guys - some pics of a kit I finished up for the Mud Movers GB recently. It’s the Revell 1/72 boxing that’s been in my Mom’s attic since I got the kit for Christmas in 1991 or 92…figured it was time to crank this puppy out, and the MM GB was the perfect excuse! [;)]

I’m fairly pleased with how it came out (I like the 30-minute Silly Putty camo), although the fit was a bit less than desirable…a perfect excuse for me to get some practice filling and sanding, which is definitely NOT my modeling strong point. Heh. The sharp-eyed have also already noticed that the decals are so far off register I’m not sure that they’re in the same zip code. [xx(] All done in Tamiya acrylics, colors 100% eyeballed using the boxart as a rough guide (not bad for colorblind, huh?).

1/72 is not my normal scale - I have an even increased respect for those of you that are able to crank out solid work in such small sizes! [#toast]

Any and all comments and criticisms highly welcomed and appreciated. [;)]

Other than what you said, the camo job looks fatastic[tup] Color blind? Would have never known. I have a friend who can only see in shades of gray.

That looks great, the camo really turned out well. You caould have told me it was 1/48 and I would have believed it!

great job on the Frog dupes, bummer about the decals, not sure how that could be fixed short of new decals or trimming away the “off kilter” tracing. Ditto on the scale comment, looks 48, wel ldone!

Well done dupes! Aside from the decals, looks beautiful to me. Outstanding work! [tup]

She’s a first rate build! Especially in the camo scheme! [tup][tup]

Hey, thanks a lot fellas! [:I]

Yeah, those decals…trust me, if I HAD a 1/72 scale stash of leftover decals, I would have cobbled together something instead of those nasty Revell dealies. I even poked around in some of my 1/48 kits to see if there might be some russian stars of about the right size I could replace them with, but no luck. [BH]

Dupes,

First rate job! For the problems you mentioned in your “disclaimer”, I was expecting something terrible. I agree with several of the others that you could’ve passed this off as 1/48; very nice, clean build!

Thanks for sharing.

Rich

OOOOOOoooo, that’s nice! I love the camo.

Wish there was a 1/48 version of that one. I’d buy it in a second.

PB

What he said excellent. JOHN

That looks really good, whoever would have thought the old Revell kit could be made to look so nice.

Gorgeous work, Dupes.

You’re good with your finishes on Russian birds

Hey dupes,

Your Frogfoot turned out really well…!! Over all build is well done and from I can tell, you hit the seams right on!!

Your right, the decals look funky for sure!! Other than that and what you already pointed out, I really like the build…

Now only they had one in 48th scale and not counting Monogram Heh heh… I think some European mfg put both a single and double seater out at one pint… Wonder if there still around

Flaps up,

Mike

Rangers Lead The Way

You and me both, man! [:D]

IL-2 - I do love those Russian schemes…[}:)]

Thanks again for taking the time, fellas. [^]

Looks really good dupes. The camo looks good and it could pass as a 1/48. The decals are messed up a little but nothing you could do about it. Overall, an execellent build.

Dupes I think I may be able to get ahold of some 1/72 russian red star markings, if I can, I’ll send them to you.

Hey Jon - I certainly appreciate the help, but I’m not sure that I could get the current decals off at this point. Had to use a LOT of setting solution and clearcoat over the top to get them to sit down properly. [V]

Thanks a ton for the offer though! [:D]

You could always put new decals on top of the other ones. Just shoot the wing-tips with a layer of clear-gloss, apply decals, and then re-coat with clear-flat.

Oh yeah? You think that would work?

Well then feel free to shoot me a PM if you ever get a hold of those decals Jon…[:)]
