1/72 Su-25 Frogfoot PICS!

PM sent by me, too.

Hi Dupes.

Very fine build you’ve got there. Frogfoots are fun! (Well, maybe not if you’re a member of the Taliban…)

I built the Zvezda 1/72 Frogfoot some years ago, using Linden Hill decals to depict a machine serving in Afghanistan in the early 1980s:

rather more weathered than yours. The Zvezda decals were even worse than yours - strange, because it’s a very long time indeed since I’ve found OOR Revell Germany decals. I’m sure that I’ve got spare Red Stars from that Linden Hill sheet, so if you can get those decals off, (if I do another Frogfoot, it’ll be a Peruvian AF version) you’d be welcome to mine, too.

Cheers,

Chris.

Mike,

Maquette makes the Su-25 and the Su-25UB (two seater) in 1/72.

Nice work Dupes, Maybe its the russian version of the A-10.

Raptor - that’s exactly what it is…just without the GAU-8/A Avenger cannon. Heh. [;)]

Chris - great Frog! Yours is certainly more weathered than mine…but it looks really good. Perhaps I need to throw a little wear-and-tear it’s way after any decal fixes. How’d you get that nice soft blending of the camo colors? Sweet.

Dupes - I got the soft-edged look by blending some Conte Crayon dust of appropriate colours into each panel, after decalling and varnishing. I started from the centre of each panel and worked outwards, suing a soft, but flat, brush, and stopping shortly before I got to the edge of each panel. On some panels, I repeated this with lighter versions of the same colours, to draw attention towards the cntre of the panel. This also enabled the weathering to be carried over and onto the decals.

I reckoned that, given the harsh conditions in which they were operating (not just the weather and the climate, but also being maintained by conscripts who didn’t want to be there), it was legitmate to over-do the weathering slightly.

Cheers,

Chris.

Dupes,

A very nice build indeed![bow] I always did like this A/C. When I first saw your pics I thought there was a 1/48 kit out there. Alas, it is a 1/72. Very nice camo work

Cheers [#toast]

Dave

Takes looks nice, very nice. I especially like the loaded weapon stores.

As for a 1/48 su-25 kit, Monogram made one. I know its OOP, but I’ve seen it in my LHS -maybe even 3 or 4 of them stacked up.

Wow, Dupes. Shes a honey and it hasnt even got any tracks. At least this explains why your not showing us anything in YOUR GB LOL. If you had mentioned the stars, i could have chucked a couple in your Red cross parcel [:D]

…Guy

Thanks once again guys! [:I]

Man, it appears that if I had taken 5 minutes or so I wouldn’t have had to deal with those useless Revell decals…oh well, live and learn. I’ll talk to you guys first next time. [;)]

Lufty - I’m trying to bang a bunch of builds out so I can GET to my own GB…rest assured, I’ll be there shortly. Next time I’ll give you an entire laundry list of stuff to throw into my package! [(-D]

Waikong - STACKS of the Monogram version? I haven’t heard great things about that kit (apparently it’s based on the prototype version of the Su-25) but I may have to visit your LHS one of these days and snag one. Hmmm.

Very nice work!
