Since I started playing war thunder tanks, I’ve wanted a stug3g of my own. Being as I dont have anywhere to put a full scale one, I resigned myself to making a model of one. So I grabbed the 1/72 version from my local hobby shop. I know its tiny but I wanted an easy back into modeling.
Anyone here have any experience with the 1/72 italeri stug3g?
Pictures tonight.
Haha, late night so heres the pictures.

Whats a good source for 1/72 tracks for a stug 3G or Pzkpfw 3 as they share the same chasis? Thanks
A Revell or old ESCI hard-track model of the same mark will give you what you want.
Ooh. I’m gonna check out the eduard photo etched tracks. I always enjoy getting impaled on razor sharp tiny metal model parts.

Great detail in this tiny kit.
This is a 40 year old kit, many of the more current kits have detail that surpass this. For example, the Revell of Germany StuG III has awesome detail and Part of Poland makes a very comprehensive photo etched set for kit.
Here is the rebuilt gun tube for the ex-Esci Italeri M1 Abrams. I replaced the gun tube with styrene tubing. I added Grandt Line bolts to the side of the mantlet as well as drilled out the GAS and replaced the solid coax port with a piece of dried out styrene rod.

When working with PE tracks, you are basically folding a piece of photo etch about the size of the tiny bandage (the little one that won’t wrap around your pinkie) lengthwise.
Here are some more of my 1/72 scale projects.
Monogram (Revell of Germany) StuG IV

Heller VAB

Fujimi Type 90

Hasegawa Jagdpanzer

Revell M998 HMMWV

Airfix LCM and Fujimi M4A1

That’s some nice work on the braille. I do think the return-rollers on the StuG are oversized, but solid work on your part. I have no idea how you do PE on stuff that small. [:S]
I was thinking about photo etch at this scale. Might be too tiny. I’ll try it out anyway.
This thread isn’t finished yet! I’ll try to get something done tonight.
That thing sure is tiny, looks good though! what paint scheme are you going to put on it?
I’m thinking something like this. It’s the “Lines” skin from war thunder for the stug3g. That pattern but with lighter colors. This will be to fit in with the simulated wheat field i want to have it driving through on it’s base.

That paint scheme should look amazing in a wheat field. I look forward to seeing it on your model!
Small update AND a question
-armor plates

-rear plate thing

Now my question. I am supposed to put this part, circled in red,

here (see image)

but here’s the side of the stug.

Any Suggestions?
—Of course, after this point theres no further views of the left side.
Yes, it is a pair of wire cutters with the mount straps molded on, but you can leave it off.
