1/48 Franklin Mint Die Cast B-26 Marauder

A friend of mine has contracted me to detail several Franklin Mint Aircraft. Starting with the B-26 Marauder. He supplied me with the aircraft, several sets of decals, parts from other Monogram kits, and resin parts. Spent a few hours today disassembling the die cast beast.

Wow thats cool, before I knew how to build, I use to buy those. I now know where they are made.[:)]

Gonna fill thse panel lines? [:D]

I have to agree with Hans. The panel lines of die cast models are really wide. I guess it is a casting problem with metal. Even the cars have them.

This will be interesting to watch, I hope you will be sharing it with us Rob

The cockpit is just about complete

A HUGE improvement Rob [Y][Y]

Spent a little bit of time today working on the B-26. All the clear components were futured and the tail gunners position was painted with new gun barrels added.

Before coating

After coating

Reinstalled the Wings

Top Turret is complete. I’ll install the glass after she’s painted.

Started the enigines today as well.

Cheers

Nice work so far Rob. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

I finished up the engines today and painted the gear wells. Installed the windows into the fuselage and painted the tips of the props yellow.

Merry Christmas

I started weathering the wheel wells today and applied the decals to the props. Dull coat will follow tomorrow.

Happy New Year

Finally got the fuselage assembled today. Time to start the finishing and painting.

Props are ready for weathering.

Filled some seams, and holes, and attached the mains today.

Added some lead weight today to ensure she sits on the nose gear.

Thanks for looking

Cheers

Thats alot of lead, she must weigh a tonne by now. Looking good so far. are you going to leave the exaggerated panel lines or smooth them off? Cant wait to see more.

Started working on the seams. Using bondo, I fill the seam them just as it starts to kick, run a scribing tool down the existing seam. When done, all the seams should be balanced out!

She’s 90% ready for color. Working with a Die Cast model requires a new method of attach when painting. Almost everything has to be assembled prior to paint.

Way to go Rob!

Great to watch you work. Final finish? Thanks, Paul
