1/48 Bf 109G & Corsair Group Build

Why can’t we do one? Somebody good, experienced., please step up and tell us what to get in 1:48 lets say. Or lets do the 1:32 trumpeter corsair. I am not experienced enough to lead but would love to follow. I see there is one going on the armor board. Lets do it!!!

I would like to participate also. Perhaps doing a poll to select the kit, etc. I think that building a new one will allow others, who may be interested in purchasing the kit, an idea of what to expect, problem-solving, and choices. A moderately-priced kit will also allow more participation. Although I only build 1/48 WW II subjects, I’m game for anything.

Anyone else got some ideas ?

I would participate in an aircraft group build. I would prefer a WWII aircraft in 1/48 or 1/32 scale but am opened to just about anything.

Oh man what have I gotten myself into…LOL First I join the armor group build foray…then I suggest one in the Auto forum…now this. I’d like to participate…but dont know that I’ll have the time…however dont count me out yet.

Chris

my buddy and i are getting ready to do a ‘group build’ on the 1/32 Hase Komet.
it will be our intro to PE.
as soon as i get my eduard set for it, and get the tank off my table, we will start. i saw the group builds on the armor forum and said, “hey! we both have this kit in our closets, why not build them together?”

the kit is only abt $23 or so retail,
and the PE is around $15 - if you can find it!!
none of my LHS carry Eduard, and i have a set ordered on greatmodels.com, but i am starting to doubt that THEY have it [:(!]

we are going to do the same on the Tamiya Swordfish down the road.
he lives in the Boston area, and i live near Philly, but it will be a fun way to keep in touch and motivated.

ed.

Id defintly like to join a group build. So far , I have a 48 scale Corsair , and a wildcat, both Tamiya. I also have a B-25 Doolittle Raider AM kit which Im waiting on my Verlinden interior set to come in. But thats just what I already have. But Id probably go along with whatever anyone else may suggest.

This is something we’ve done here in WNY for a long time, only we call it a common kit. Speaking of, I’m doing no less than three common kits at the moment. (well, one’s a common vignette!) I participated in one on another forum, but never finished, unfortunately. Long story there… []

Anyhoo, if I were to take part, I too would go for a 48th WWII bird. Why don’t we all make some suggestions as to what we might wanna do, come up with a list of choices and then vote. (read: poll)

I’ve got a couple to toss in the pot:

Revellogram - Bf 110G or Me 410
Hasegawa - Bf 109 or P-51
Tamiya - D.520 or Wildcat

Again, I’d be up for just about anything WWII. And although many, if not most, might want to stay away from anything but single-engined stuff, I put the first two in 'cuz they’re relatively inexpensive as opposed to similar kits from other manufacturers. I’d pick some more esoteric subjects, myself, but I realize not everyone’s tastes are the same!

Let’s hear some more suggestions!

Fade to Black…

hi guys,[:)]
i’m about to do a panther group build over on the dark side [}:)]…but i’d love to have a go here as well!!![:)]
i only have a limited selection of kits in my cupboard, and the girlfriend will kill me if i buy another one so i’m limited to the following, i’m afraid:
109e
109 g6
f4u
fw 190 d9
fw 190 a8
spitfire mk1
typhoon
p-47 bubble top

…but come on guys, you know you all want to do a 109!!![;)]

anyway, evn if it’s not one of the above and i can’t participate, i’m really keen to see how it goes, so good luck all!![;)]

regards,
nick

[#ditto] I’m especially partial to the 109 myself…

Shouldn’t that be DITTO and not DITO?

Fade to Black…

Ok, well, so far we have it narrowed down to 1/48 WWII [banghead] Now all we have to do is figure out which plane. Unless we get a whole bunch of people wanting to do something special , I think we ought to stick with something more well known , like the 51s 109s and so on …so I guess we can start a list first and then vote. Then figure out which kit/type…
P-51
Bf-109
Fw-190
P-47
P-38
F4U Corsair
Wildcat
dauntless
Spitfire
Typhoon
Anyone wanting to add to the list? I know I left out Russian planes as well as bombers. Im not real familiar with Russian WWII , so if anyone would like to add them please do so. I also left out bombers considering most are currently hard to get, but we can certainly involve them too, I do have a B-25 and B-17 in the closet.

Somebodies gotta decide, lets do one of the Tamiya thunderbolts or corsairs. Somebody decide and take the lead. Whats next?

Well I’ve got;
Rev’s 1/32 F4U 1D
Tam’s 1/48 F4U 1/2 & 1D
2 Heller’s AU1s
HobbyCraps British F4

I’m just about done with the 1/32 F4 Phantom and it’s time to start thinking of a new project.
Sorry for the EDIT, I tried to use TABs and for some reason it posted it before I was finished.

In my unfettered opinion, that is not a good kit. I think the concensus appears to be a 1:48.

I like the idea of the Hasegawa Bf 109G. I have the Verlinden Lock On book for the G2, so I could e-mail reference pics to those interested. I also have a Hasegawa G2 w/ Verlinden set. There are plenty of AM decals out there which would add some variety.
The Tamiya Corsair & P-47 are also choices that I like.

I would like to join in, as well, but I’m getting tired of doing common WWII birds. I already have enough Mustangs and Corsairs. Why not do something a bit more off the wall? My suggestions (based on what I have, mind you):

Tamiya 1/48 Dornier Pfeil
Tamiya 1/48 Heinkel “UHU”
Hasegawa 1/48 J7W1 Shinden

I figure if we do something wierd, it would be fun to see how people handle the build. More fun that way. JMHO.

hi guys[:)]
i appreciate that some may be tired of “run of the mill” WWII prop fighters, but doing something like the UHU will limit the build to experienced / adventurous / wealthy builders only[V], which seems to me slightly out of keeping with the general spirit i have found in evry other post in which i have participated.
i actually have a UHU in my cupboard[:p], and it’s an awesome tamiya kit[8D], but i’m not going to do it until i know i can do it justice.
if you want maximum participation, then do a 109([:)][:)][:)]), thunderbolt or a mustang etc
that’s just my 2 pennies worth anyway![:p]

nick

I agree with Nick, lets pick something to get started. Then we can go through the process and work out the kinks. Then, we can move on to more rare birds.

OK, Tamiya Thunderbolt anyone?

I’ve got the Tamiya F4U-1D in 1/48 and 1/72. I could do both! I wouldn’t be interested in a Thunderbolt in 1/48 though. I’m mostly 1/72 and have Hasegawa’s 1/72 Thunderbolt. The 1/48 Corsair is an exception.

In leau of popular opinion, I could easily tear into my 1/48 Tamiya F4U-1D. It does have a certain appeal to it, plus my wife wants me to build it for her. Easy to find kit for those who don’t have it, too.

Count me in, but please be gentle on the cost!! The Monogram 110 has my vote seeing as I have one in a box somewhere. Heres some more suggestions:
Monogram He-111
Monogram B-24J
Monogram B-25J
Monogram B-29
Monogram PBY
Yes I know thats alot of Monograms, But thats pretty much whats available to me until after the move. I’m not one of those fortunate ones with a decent hobby shop nearby. (My current project is still on my desk and won’t be packed until the very last!!).
