Hey guys, I just started the Tamiya 1/32 Corsair. It’s an awesome kit. I’ll be posting WIP pics shortly.
In any case, I am going to build the USMC Tri Color version and I am having a hard time finding a suitable blue for the top color.
I am thinking
Testor MM Gloss White for the bottome (greyed up a bit)
Testor MM Intermediate Blue for the center color
?? for the top color?
Any recommendations? I saw the Valero US Navy paint set and thought about getting that as it has all 3 colors. Any comments on the colors for a Corsair Tri color scheme? I have never painted with Valero, any tips? Can I use my Tamiya X20 thinner with Valero?
Thanks
John
Model Master Matt Dark Sea Blue ought to work.
Came across this thread when doing research for my PV-1…although I am doing the early war 2-color scheme this thread has details for 3-color scheme.

Thanks guys. I’ll check that out.
Here’s my Hellcat in the same scheme. I outlined how I did the tri-colored paint scheme with Tamiya paints.

Hope it helps,

Thanks Joe. I also decided to go with Tamiya paints XF17 and Xf18. I might do a build log as this build is a Christmas gift for my dad and I am going to try to make a dio out of it. I was also gonna do the same thing for the R-2800. I need to figure out what gauge wire for 1/32. Your hellcat looks awesome. I hope my corsair comes out almost as nice. Thanks John
Thanks John. The Eduard Hellcat was one of my more enjoyable builds. For the radial I used some copper wire from an old stereo cord I ripped out. Radio Shack has all different sizes of solder wire on spools. You should be able to find the size you need there for this application I have a turorial in here on how I rig my radials. I’ll see if I can find it. Post some pics soon.

Here it is John. I hope it helps…

Thanks. I actually found the link reading about your hellcat but thanks. I’ll probably be re-reading it a lot. Haha this thread just might become my build log. Thanks again John
