they all are molds from about 30 yrs ago, they are cheap(price) and as long as one is happy with the 30yr old tech. , they go together ok and they do look pretty much like their supposed to as far as rescribing goes it’s a mixed bag you can do that before you build but you must make any new lines line up or you can put it together then do it then you know the lines/seams line up but… you can;t put any smaller parts on at all at this point because they won’t take the handling
In accuallity the ZhengDefu kits are either the old molds or copies of the Academy’s F-111’s the best thing to do to the skin is lightly sand it down starting with 400 grit and work up to 1200 or 1500 grit to get the the skin to conform correctly, I’ve built 2 of the “clones” and it took just a little more work but they came out just fine, also you may want to invest into the Squadrons F-111 Canopy to finish it off
I’ve got the academy F-111c that I.m going to build for my dad and comparing it to the ZD kit the difference in quality is amazing.
The major difference apart for the textured finish is the prominent panel lines. I’ve sprayed the model with an automotive high fill primer and am in the process of re-scribing so that they are less obvious.
This will take a while.
I was just doing a quick build for a freind of the family who used to be a navigator on the 111,but i cant bring myself to do a slap together job.
Hope I don’t exhaust my enthusiasm before i get to build a model for myself!
