Hi All,
I’m going to do my Tamiya 1/48 Zero in the 253rd Air Group, Tobera Base, Rabaul, January 1944paint scheme . I’m wondering what Model Master acrylics to use for the fuselage. The colored diagram that comes with the kit shows a light green shade for the underside of the fuselage that sure doesn’t seem like “sky” to me. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
I do not know about Model Master but if you have access to Tamiya Paints they make the specific colors. If it is a Japanese Navy plane the Tamiya number would be XF 12 which is definetly a gray with a strong green tint to it. If it is an Japanese Army plane it would be XF-14 which is closer to a British Sky Gray of WWII era that has a slight green tint to it. I have also heard it described as Duck Egg Green which is avalible in Model Master Acrylic line. Hope this helps.
