Some of you asked if I had any more pictures. These are about the only ones that I haven’t posted before. Of course, the way my mind is getting, I could have posted them before and forgotten[%-)]. Sorry, if that’s the case.
First is a pre-WWII trainer in 1/32 scale (probably) by Finemolds (or some other obscure Japanese maker) . The type was nicknamed “Tombo” which means “dragonfly.” Second is the Tamiya 1/32 Zero. The snow covered mountain in the background of one of the pictures is Mt. Fuji. Third is the Academy 1/72 PBY that a couple other guys on the forum are building or getting ready to build.
They are all box stock and painted with Tamiya rattle cans. I’ve got an airbrush, but I’ve found that the Tamiya spray cans work just as well and are a lot faster unless you want to apply a color that isn’t available in a can or if you want to paint a camoflage pattern. I guess I’ll have to break out the airbrush for the Fw109 that I’m getting ready to paint.
Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday weekend.
Fantastic builds and a nice photographic touch with the Zero! The fog/haze effect (with the Zero) looks particularly eerie – was that taken during dusk? Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for all the nice comments. After I posted these pictures, I remembered that the “tombo” is probably actually called the “akatombo” which means “red dragonfly.” Thought I’d better let you know just in case anyone starts googling for one. The fit of the akatombo kit was pretty bad, the details are fairly rudimentary, and the trailing edges of the wings are thick, but it does build up into a nice model.
Onyan, I took the hazy Zero picture on a hazy morning. Just lucky.
nkm1416, the drums are from a 1/35 Tamiya armor accessories kit.
