Zen Experience at Hobby Lobby.

Today while running errands the wife and I stopped at Hobby lobby because I needed a new set of Testors Sanding Films which I come to find they do not sell it. [:(!] So I had to make due with getting regular sanding paper. Now here I am in the model section droolling over these tasty models [dinner] determined that one way or another I am walking out with one. As the wife is over looking at charms and beads for jewelry making I’m looking for the Revell F/A-18E Super Hornet which again I come to find out they dont carry it. [:(] Now I am getting fustrated because they do not carry the full line of Testors MM Acrylic paints either and I need Aircraft Gray for the Six. [|(] But alas, I see distribution boxes on the floor of their models aisle and open one AND inside I spy the Revell 1/48 P-61 Black Widow (although I still really wanted the F-18E) and I’m grinning like a fool on Xmas morning. Then the wife comes over and wants me to look at some charms she intends to make necklaces with so I help her pick out some and as many as she wanted (and cause I also let her get two movies at Wal Mart she really wanted), now I delve into my evil plan, [:-,] and tell the wife I want to get a model and she gives me “The Eye” and “The Look” and then said OK. I’m in shock! [:O] No hassle, no arguement, just a simple OK. Man I thought I was going to have a heart attack right there next to the Tamiya Models! So I quickly snatch up one of the P-61’s and said to the wife, “I’m Ready to go Dear”, but before leaving the model section I made sure I grabed another X-Acto handle and blades to commemorate this RARE occasion. [:D]

God I LOVE My Wife!

NICE [:D]

be careful with that P-61 though, I vomitted into the box when I opened it.

Jin, you really need to watch what you eat when open a model you just bought. Blowing Chunks wont improve the molding. [:D]

Hilarious, Air Master!! I know exactly how you feel, though. Sometimes it’s worth playing the little “games”, like you just did with your wife (helping her with her hobby, so you could buy something for yours), so we can enjoy our hobby. Heck, she probably knew why your were helping her so much anyway…

Luckily, my girlfreind is BIG-TIME into scrapbooking and rubber-stamping, and has just about every conceivable item for that hobby that you can imagine, so she’s very understanding about our hobby. Glad to hear that you have a very understanding wife as well. Good Luck!!!

Devil Dawg

Yup Dawg you are right, especially when they have all the cash. [:D]

I picked up the Revell Super Bug at either Meijer or Walmart. I haven’t really looked at it and now I’m wanting one of those 61’s. LOL

Cassi, I’ll keep checking Wally World for the Super Bug but some little brat always beats me to it. I’m going have to camp out there and make sure I get the next one, thankfully sporting good is right next to the toys section.[tup]

Edited for proper names and gender (this mistake will NOT happen again [;)])

J , its a good thing that you didnt see the other models that came out in the 70 's if you reacted to the Monogram/Revell P-61 like that . It wasnt a bad kit for its day .[:)]

SHL

[:-^][oops]. My sincerer appoligies to Cassi. Nicknames are often misleading. [:D]

My fault really. I used a male screen name. Cassidy William was one of my cats. After I lost him, I took to using CASSIdy W(B)ILLiam as my screen name. Though since I’m in the Powder Puff GC and that’s me in the pic with Cass, I’m surprised. They do call me “sir” a lot in stores.

well I’ve been know to bicker. I’m just another one of the foolish young’uns always runnin round spolin the fun [:D]

I LOVE the P-61. Great score! However, for your info, both versions should be black. Might want to look into so AM decals!!! P.S. make sure you kiss your wife extra sweet tonight lol

You people have a whole lot of wife problems if buying a model is that difficult.

Wasn’t there a thread on this very subject just the other day?

Ok guys, the main point of my original post here was to be humorous. Some of you got it and some of you didnt. It was in no way an attempt to re-hash or copy the thread Brookss started.

Rad,

I built the P-61 kit for the first time almost 15 years ago and it hasnt changed one bit. The canopy is still the same as are all the clear parts and this is where the trouble is with this model. Back then I took over a year to finish it. I was so disgusted with it I just slapped it together, decaled it and hung it up, I didnt even bother to paint it or apply the extra work to make it look better but you know what, it still looked good when I was done. This time I’m going to go the extra mile with it when I get around to building it.

I’ve seen images of an olive-drab P-61. It think it was an early
production model or prototype. It really looked sweet in that green.

If my own experience of the fairer sex is anything to go by your wife probably knew exactly what she wanted before she stepped over the threshold into Hobby Lobby - and was prepared to let you have something along the way.

So it was really her game of double bluff. But seems to have worked all around if everyone came away happy!
