Your favorite kit

There has been some topics about favorite tanks and good first builds but what has been your favorite overall kit to build? In the short time that I have building armor I would have to say mine is the Panther G for the group build. Learned alot building it and tried out alot of new things and it came out better than I ever thought. So what is yours?

I’ve made a LOT of Tamiya Stuarts (and AFV Club M3A3’s). This includes conversions to infantry tanks, combat cars, M5, M3A1 etc. So I guess that’s my OVERALL favorite… or at least most prolific (even though I don’t like the scale inaccuracies any more)! I had a LOT of fun building the Academy Tiger I with complete interior also as well as Tamiya’s 1/25 scale tanks and Bandai’s 1/24 scale Panther and Tiger II. I used to like Mongram’s 1/32 Lee also… and Airfix’s… The Italieri M24… M109 / 108 series…
I’ve had fun building so many kits, I can’t really think of a favorite.

Oh here it goes… LQ2 done opened it up now… Everybody and their baby-mama gonna have an answer for this one…Hopefully[:D]

It seems that my favorite is usually my newest. Certainly my DML/Tamiya Panther G from the forementioned group build. I have learned a tremendous amount building it Trying new techniques from scratchbuilding to weathering. For that I love it… Before that it was the parts box Sherman. As far as comparative ease of build for what you get probably the tamiya Dragon wagon. That kit literally falls together. My 2 cents…

Its still Tamiya’s Tiger I Late. You know the one…the one with steel wheels, no rubber. LOL The fit was great and tracks went together like butter. Still, I finished it some 3-4 years ago and could have made some improvements. I’m hoping that my Panther will be my favorite when I’m finished, but the build has been more complicated, because I’m trying some new things.

Currently Tamiya’s Stug III is my favorite kit in terms of fun to build up. Tamiya King Tiger is a runner-up. I’m hoping the new Tamiya M1A2 replaces them both.

I actually found Dragon’s Maus kit to be awfully fun to build too, despite how ludicrous the subject was. [:p]

I’d have to say mine is probably Tamiya’s T-55A. The kit was pretty simpole but it gave around six versions you could build. That was pretty cool. [^][^]

Well, if we’re talking finished kits, it would have to me my Tamiya PzII with Eduard photo etch, Friul tracks, Jordi Rubio barrel, etc. But that’s because it’s the only one I’ve truely finished. (I still have the tools, decals, etc. to put on my 1/72 Elefant!

Old Tamiya M113. It helped me learn how to do interiors on tanks/AFVs. It was probably the first true kit that was 95%+ complete inside and out. Of course, now it suffers from age, inaccuracies and simplistic construction, but at the time it was the kit.

Oh I hate these tough questions !!!

hmmm

let me see

I think maybe

no … not that one

oh alright … got it !!!

Tamiya’s Dragon Wagon … HA fooled all of you didn’t I
This kit is just an engineering marvel and an absolute pleasure to build.

#2 would be DML’s M4A1 Sherman

LOL [:D][:D][:D] You sucked me in, Robert. I should have remembered your feelings for the Dragon Wagon!!

Bill

Tamiya M26 Pershing.

I just loved that kit.

Favorite kit ? hmmmmmm…Lately I have really liked the tauch panzer 3 ausf H( DML) my first attempt at a small tank , did a few mods to it JR barrel , fruil tracks but other than that it is stock , very kool little kit I think ! Like my panther ausf D too but then again that is my fav tank anyways .[:D][8D]

I think it’s a toss up between the Italeri M4A1 and the Tamiya Panzer IV Ausf D. Simple easy builds that can really be jazzed up or left as is. Kind of like me, getting old, but still able to get around!

As far as ease of build is concerned, it’s got to be Revell’s 1/72 Merkava III, closely followed by their similarly scaled King Tiger (Henschel turret). However, I had a whale of a time building, painting and weathering Emhar’s 1/72 A7V amd Mk IV Female. I await their Whippet with great anticipation!

Great question!

Mine is Tamiya’s Sdkfz 250/3 Greif.

It is a nice kit, certainly the best quality kit I had bought at the time, but more importantly, once finished, it was the first time I had built a model that I would proudly show to other modellers, (not that I ever have!) without feeling embarassed about my skills. I was that happy with it. All except Rommel’s eyes. He looked…well… a little frog like.![(-D]

As an interesting aside, my parents brought this very model up to me the other day, and seeing again it has ended a six year absence from modellling!

By far, it’s Tamiya’s 1/16 Tiger 1

I was just impressed with the quality and detail. I am now looking to do a 1/16 King Tiger (static display this time around)

mine would be the M113A1 vietnam by academy.

Well my favorite model to build is the 1/35 Tiger. After reading about Micheal Whittman I was hooked on the Tank. However the model that stands out in my mind the most, and this may fall under a favorite model buildng experience, is the P-51 Mustang I built with my father. Now all you Armor guys are probably going Oh my Gosh he mentioned an Aircraft in the Armor forum. Well let me say that its my favorite moel that I built more because I did it with my dad than because its actually my favorite model. Everytime I goto a airshow and see a P-51 I’m reminded of that model.

Sorry about getting sentimental there on you guys. Just to show that I haven’t completely lost my mind, my armor to aircraft ratio in my model stock pile is about 12 armor models to every aircraft.
