During the last days it was way to hot for the kids to play outside, and my 6 yo son didn’t know what to do next.
I suggested him to (instead of watching cartoons and playing videogames all day) to try and build a model.
I soon found a suitable (read not too difficult) model that he liked ; the F2 Banshee.
I know, I know he’s not going to win this years IPMS yet, but hay it’s a start isn’t it.

He looks like he’s having fun[^]. That could be the start of a great hobby to last him a lifetime. I can still remember how my (late) great uncle bought me my first kit… I’d love to see how your son does with that Banshee (no doubt with a little help [;)]). Now that it’s raining in these parts, he should have enough time to get it finished [:D].

My dad got me started with an old Monogram FW-190 back in 1980 when I was 7. I’ve been an airplane and model nut ever since. I paid him back for it when I took him flying after I got my PPL in 1991. You reap what you sow and sometimes it’s good.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. And yes Filibert, indeed now that it’s raining he will be able to work on it a bit more. Actually I promised him that I’ll teach him how to airbrush tomorrow (he actually already did a little airbrush on paper), and as far as the help goes, well, I can’t expect him to be able to read the partnumbers can I ?
That our Jason (that is his name) would be a modeller, is not really a surprise, since my wife does some modelling to, so it was te be expected.[8D]
Good point about the part numbers [:I]… kinda forgot I started to learn about letters when I was 6…[:D]. I’m very impressed he’s already tried to airbrush. I’ve been trying for ten years and still am not very succesful[D)]. Your Jason must be a talented boy[^].

Way to go !! Get them started young & hopefully it becomes an enduring life long hobby. I could never get my 2 youngens interested in modelling. But my Son is really into woodworking, his grandfathers hobby, & my daughter is a very accomplished ceramics painter, my wifes hobby. But neither followed dear ol’ Dads hobby.

LOL, good job Dan. it’s kinda funny, all of the older guys here are talking about their kids, and getting them to model, either sucesfully or not. I’m the kid in this instance, and I can’t wait to see what lies for me in the future of modeling. I wesh my dad would start modeling. Kinda reverse, eh?

Kids are the best. My son is only 18 months old and I am waiting for the day I can take him in my shop and shopp him the ropes. This is something your son will always remember. I do.
