Some years ago there was a conversion kit that turned monogram’s B-52D(? one of the tall tail’s anyway) into the tandem seat YB-52, and about the same time, the same or perhaps a different boutique builder was offering a vac-form and metal conversion of a Monogram B-36 into the C-99, a cargo version of the B-36 (amazing how versitile they tried to make that airplane – we have a member trying to do the B-60 jet version, then there was the B-36 as one of the X planes, I forget which, which was intended as a test bed for a nuclear powered bomber. Madness, I say). I saw that one and only C-99 parked on static display at Kelly AFB in San Antonio and it seemed even bigger than the B-36 which, in some ways it was. Dunno what happened to that airframe. This was more than 10 years ago. Another interesting bit of trivia – it was used by the Navy, not the air force, if my source here is correct. Wonder why. Anyway, I’m guessing if I ever find either of those conversions they will be a) out of production and in some old-timers garage and b) much more difficult than I ever imagined. And both of these birds will be a huge amount of work on all that damnable NMF. [8]
