I just finished this build this afternoon. I messed up on the kit magic tracks so I had to use some Tamyia ones forom a T34 thats in the stash… but at lest I’ll have a lot of spare tracks!!! LOL.
I painted the build in Tamyia paints and I weathered with Mig pigments and veriouse oil paints.
All coments and critizisems and ideas on how I can improve my builds welcome!!
If the pix arnt very good I can take some outside whene it stops snowing. ([:O])
Are you putting your decals on after weathering ? That star looks very new. Maybe a wash or two over the top, or scratch it up a bit ? Apart from that, I like it a lot. Well done !
First of all let me just say your SU-100 looks pretty good!! Especially love the mud and the rusted spare tracks, they look amazing![tup] However the tracks and roadwheel in the rear on one side almost seem to be floating. One other thing is that red star decal is a bit bright, perhaps you should try dulling it down with some weathering.
Nice to see you back posting again stick! Nice save with the Tamiya tracks although the join is something you can’t do much about. Are you planning this one for a dio? I ask because the final wheel on the rear left side looks like it’s been positioned as if the vehicle were crossing over an obstacle or similar. Also agree with Wirraway, given the rest of the vehicle’s heavy mudding, I’d expect the markings to at least have some dust or dirt streaks to go with it.
It depends, you mention that you applied the decals last so I assume they aren’t protected or sealed by anything. In order to avoid damaging them, anything you do to them at this point shouldn’t be too aggressive. Pigments would be the way I’d go vs. washes to tone them down, maybe even some light dry brushing as well.
Glad you got her done. That’s too bad about the magic-tracks.
In addition to the other comments, I’d probably rust up the mufflers since the rest of the vehicle seems weathered. Also, you have a bunch of spare tracks kind of floating around with nothing securing them. I’d think they’d fall off eventually during a hard turn or something.
Looks real good Stick, mean looking beast,I like your mud on the lower half, maybe a little more splatter up the sides, not to heavy, but it seems too stop short, but it looks good, keep building and posting.
