Question, Is Yankee Modelworks still in existance? Their phone is disconnected and there is no listing for them in the Monroe NC phonebook. Their website lists 3 distributers for their material. One is out of business and the other two do not carry the parts I need - they are out of stock and cannot restock.
Well, this is a really old thread, but I was looking for Yankee Modelworks too here in 2013 after purchasing off of ebay and starting the USS Samuel Roberts, FFG-58 in 1.350 scale. A GREAT resin model by Blue Water Navy which later became Yankee Modelworks.
I wanted to contact them about that model and look at their newest products. Sadly, I cannot find them.
Their website does not work (www.yankeemodelworks.com)…it points to FreeTime Hobbies who have no kits by them, the phone number Decker gave out in 2009 is out of service, and the latest announcement I could find from them was two years ago here:
All of the molds for YMW have been purchased by FreeTime Hobbies as well as those for MidShip Models. They are reissuing some of the Midship stuff right now. They are upgrading some of the kits. I believe that they will be doing the same for the 1/350 YMW stuff as well as time goes on. For up to date info contact Brandon at FreeTime.
Thanks, Dreadnaught, I had just called Brandon and talked to him about this because the old Yankee Modelworks URL poiints to a now defunct Free Time page.
Brandon indicated that they are going to call the Yankee Modelworks models the “Heritage Series,” and reproduce some of the kits as is, and update some of the others with wood decks and brass barrels for the main guns where necessary and then re-release them.
I’m pretty jazzed about this because I did a review and buildup of their Blue Ridge 1/350 scale USS Nautlis model:
and they do very good work. I am currently doing a review and build up of the old Blue Water Navy Model’s release of the USS Samuel Roberts, FFG-58 (which I just started and posted here on FSM). I am looking forward to Blue Ridge’s reissue particularly of the Yankee Modelworks stuff/
So, Blue Water Navy became Yankee Modelworks, and is now Blue Ridge Models. I am glad Free Time and Blue Ridge got it…they will do a good job with it.
Thanks again for the reply.
…and for those interested, here is Blue Ridge Models web site:
