XP-72 Ultrabolt by Halberd . .

I’m about to embark on a modeling journey I would have never anticipated just a couple of years ago. Twenty twenty-six has been the year of the Thunderbolt for me. I’m finishing a Mexican P-47D of the 201st Fighter Squadron known as the “Aztec Eagles”. The 201st operated in the Philippines, 1944-45. Next up is a Brazilian Thunderbolt of Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) operating in Italy. Following those builds will be the Halberd conversion for the Tamiya P-47D Bubbletop to build an XP-72 Ultrabolt. The build will be a “what-if” P-72 in squadron service.

Since the conversion parts are resin, I’m wondering about how to glue the parts. I know that the resin will need to be glued with CA glue. Should I use a gap-filling glue or an ultra thin CA glue, to say, close up the fuselage or attach kit parts to the resin fuselage.

Any of y’all out there who have experience with this kind of thing, I want to learn form you.

I’m no expert, but you can use epoxy glue for resin parts as well. I recently glued two aftermarket resin propellor shaft wings to my Trumpeter Titanic hull using two part epoxy without issue. It’s the first time I’ve ever worked with resin parts.

Not sure what thickness CA glue to use if you want to go that route.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks, Mark. I do have some 5 minute epoxy I can use. I also have some gap-filling CA glue in the fridge as well. I reckon it’s time to conduct an experiment as to which adhesive will work best.
