Nasa didn’t take it over, after Kennedy canceled the Bomber portion of the development, development was approved solely for scientific research… NASA was always part of the development of the XB-70 on the research end it wasn’t till after the accident that they actually put the NASA ID on the aircraft… They are joint USAF & NASA aircraft… Owned by the USAF..
