Just opened a special Hobby 1/48th scale X-15 and notice there are no alignment pins on the fuselage halves. What is the best way to align these when gluing ( and keep them aligned while the gluse sets)
Its common with all of their kits what ever brand they are under. I just finished an SH Ju 87. I just held the fuselage together and did plenty of checking to make sure it was lined up properly. I started with one end applying plastic weld there, then made sure nothing had moved before progressing further. I use a plastic weld rather than glue and that sets pretty fast.
Yes Bish, I use the same technique with Tamiya extra thin. align and glue as I go around the seams
Gotta agree with the statements above. As an example, I’ll basically start by cementing one end of the wing or fuselage. Once that has set, I’ll start slowly and carefully working my way around the two halves while checking the alignment the whole time.
One thing I’ll do is take the back edge of my Xacto blade and press it right up to the seam. That way I’ll ensure that one half isn’t higher than the other half and I’ll avoid ending up with a “step” between the two halves. I hope that made sense.
