WWII Weekend PICS

Just got back from Reading, Pa. Here’s a few pic’s for your enjoyment. The last one is a 50lb bomb that would end any war.[;)]

Nice pics. Bet it was hot out there. Would liove to have seen the Corsairs take to the air. Did they fly together or one at a time?

Marc, Yes it was hot!!! It was a great time though. We left before the Corsairs flew. We did however get to see the 6 SBD’s fly together. That was really cool!!! It was getting too hot for the kids and The one who says she’s always COLD. [:-^] So we had to leave. Just in time too as we were going to the shuttle a skirmish broke out in the German occupied French village. We narowly escaped.[swg]

Chris

Sounds great. That carrier is amazing

Raider, The gentleman sitting with the carrier built it. I think he said it was a 6 year build. There were a few others there he had also built. (scratch) They are all R/C also !!! He has the cargo ship from Mr. Roberts with every thing including the palm tree!

Chris

NICE !

Thasnks for sharing ! Great pictures !

Wow, close shave there, Chris! [swg] Thanks a million for the great pics, I personally never tire of seeing the old warbirds!

Brian [C):-)]

Really great pics Chris. Thanks for spending the time in the hot sun to get them for us. Glad you got out of town before the firefight started.[(-D] Well, sorry, you probably wanted to see how it ended.[(-D] Maybe I’ll see you there next year.

Jim[4:-)]

Great pics, Chris. Thank you for sharing them.

Thanks Medic18! Great photos! Lots of grist for the mill there! I have never seen that old an SBD live before. Great job![tup]

Namrednef, I don’t believe you are seeing an old SBD now. Looks like a sheep in wolf’s clothing T-6.

Notice the pointed tail in Medic’s picture.

Thanks for the pics! My dad and I were there, too, and yes, it was hot! Not quite as hot as last year, I think, because it wasn’t as humid, and there was a breeze.

The Corsairs did fly, in a little reenactment with the Avenger and with the Val (a converted Texan).

The “Dauntlesses” are also converted Texans, but they’re still pretty cool to see.

The P-40E and a P-51D were featured in the last flight, tied in with the ground re-enactment. They flew close air support for US troops skirmishing with the Germans.

The WWII weekend is really great, I recommend it for aircraft fans, or even just for history buffs.

Regards,

Brad
