Hello, I am looking for a good green color to use for my set of marines during WWII. I have tried several different colors and none of them have worked. I have seen several figures in the magazine and the color looks real. Does anyone have some suggestions?
What brands of paints do you have available or prefer to work with?
I normally use Tamiya and Testors regular, or Model Masters. I have used Humbrol before. I am open to any brand or kind of paint as long as there is a place to get it. I know alot of people use Vallejo, and even though the hobby store I shop at dosn’t have it I think I can order it from an online store I buy from.
In Humbrol, Army Green 102 or Light Olive 86 are good startnig points. In Model Master SAC Bomber Green FS 34159 is a good choice. All of those colors are suggested should be lightened with a bit of light gray for more used/faded uniforms. Pale Green FS 34227 is good starting point for faded old fatigues. Tamiya being horrible for brush painting anyways, does not have a good color close to the Olive Green on fatigues.
Thank you, I’ve been trying to get the right color for years. The only other paint I haven’t tired yet that I was aware of was Vallejo “USMC WWII Fatigue green” or somthing like that. I don’t know if it comes close like the ones you have suggested. I am just glad to be getting some new colors to try out, thanks again and as soon as I get them painted I’ll post some pictures of them, I plan to build a tarawa diorama here pretty soon.
