Anyone know of a set of WWII seated pilots? I’m building an “action” diorama and need a few pilots to go in the cockpit. Lookin’ for USAAF, LUFTWAFFE, IJA, and VVS if possible.
What scale do you need ?
Regards, Rick
Oops. forgot that little detail… 1/72
Or any cheap plane kits that have good figures?
Anyone?
I recommend you to buy these Italeri WWII German bomber kits, they come with a lot of figures…
I just did a search on www.greqatmodels.com for “1/72 pilot” and got 2-3 pages of hits. Most are for kits. But, several are for figures. Maybe ytou can find what you need there? You may need to perform a little “surgery” on the figures to get exactly what you want?
Hasegawa has a 1/72 WWII Pilots set.
It has US, British, Japanese and Germany pilots.
None of them are in a sitting position but with a little modification you could get them to sit [:D]
You can also do a search on Squadron’s sight they have a lot of kits from Czech Master kits listed.

Looks like I’ll be doing some cosmetic surgery…can’t find any sitting down.
Thanks, y’all…
It’s not too difficult to do. I recently built a 1/72 Spitfire that I wanted posed in flight, but Tamiya didn’t include a pilot. So I cut up a 1/72 tank crewmember from the spares box, fabricated a parachute harness from 0.005" styrene, and voila, a pilot.
I save pilots from various kits I get, then replace the heads. The old Airfix soft plastic figures for AAF, RAF and Luftwaffe can provide a variety of headgear. Cut the head off the seated figure and the Airfix figure. Drill a suitable hole in the body of the sitting figure, superglue the Airfix head and there you have it. It is possible to use some Airfix figure arms to replace the arms on the seated figure, too. I have made up a B-17 pilot that way, reaching up for an overhead control. Normally, though, since cockpits are pretty tight, I just change the head.
Actually, many of the Airfix pilots in the kits are quit nice. I have sent several on furlow to other modelers. Might have a couple left I can send out. Shoot me an email and I can check on them.
Try my fav…www.internethobbies.com they have all scales of aircraft and fig’s too…“RC”[C):-)]
