WWII Italian Fuel Cans??

Heys guys, does anyone know if the Italians used German 5L fuel cans on their Carro Armato M-13/40 tanks? I’m building a Zvezda kit for Tigerman’s “That’s Amore” GB and want to spruce it up with some fuel cans as I have an Eduard PE set that has a nice fuel can rack for the starboard side of the tank.

I don’t have any Italian cans in the spares box, but I have a load of German fuel cans!

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

Ciao!

Royal Models, Model Victoria and Tasca all make spare Italian jerry can sets – if no one can get you something from their spares stash.

From photos they look to be the normal, garden variety, jerry cans. Only benefit I see from getting after market ones is the ‘RE’ logo in the center, Regio Escerto = Royal Army.

Though for long hauls or strategic moves, Italian tanks were, in theory, suppose to be put on trucks/trailers.

Jack

Well waddya know…I had no idea!! I found some Royal Model cans that will do nicely, thanks for the info Roy!!

Jack, thanks for responding. I do like the idea of the RE being on the cans so I’ll go the AM route! BTW, those are great photos! I could have definitely used them when I was building the kit!!

Ernest, not a problem. All pics were found via google image search on m13/40, with filter set to b/w photos.

Jack
