I have decided to start focusing on Italian aircraft. I am building a SM-84 in 1/72 from AV-USK. I am not familiar with Italian air force colors and the instruction are vauge. The underside is listed as camo grey. Does anyone have any idea what testors or tamiya color best matches the right shade. I also need to know the correct interior shade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I know some italian aircraft colors were a match for some RLM colors ( german ) the Macchi C.202/205 often used RLM76 Lichtblau for their undersides and pacific coast hobbies carries WWII italian color matched paints I hope this helps
Model Master makes Italian aircraft colors, they are: 2110 Italian Sand, 2111 Italian Dark Brown, 2112 Italian Olive Green and 2113 Italian Blue Gray… But I know that some fighters, like the Macchi C.205 Veltro were painted with RLM colors: RLM 74, RLM 75 and RLM 76… I think the plane that you are building must be painted with all the Italian colors I’ve mentionated: The blue gray for the undersides, the sand as a base color for the upper sides with olive green/dark brown mottles… Hope this helps.
