WWII French cockpit interior color?????

All,

I’m doing a little fact-finding on correct WWII French A/C colors and wanted to know if anyone could help with FS 14108 or ‘Vert Protctif’ ( Protective Green ). My Squadron book says that this was the interior color for all French A/C from that era…Does that include wheel wells, etc. or just the cockpit…???

I’ve seen the online color rendering of the “Lifecolor” brand acrylics and the “chip” looks a little dark to me… well, alot dark… From color depictions, or what one can make out from them, Protective Green looks more like RAF interior “gray-green”, etc.

The model instructions are no help either… The CA MS-406 calls for gray; The Azur VG-33 calls for light gray; and the Tamiya Dewoitine calls for dark gray…[:(!]

I plan on mixing enough paint to finish all three birds, but wanted to know if I was on the right track with “Vert Protectif” as an interior color… and, if so, if it should be as dark as the “Lifecolor” shade…

I realize that research on L’Armee de L’ Air is pretty scarce, but there’s bound to be someone who can answer this query…Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!..

Completely confused [?],

Oh, I know online colors can be deceiving, but thought the following link might give and idea of the darkness of the color I’ve descibed…

Hi Footcav42
I have just finished building an Heller Amiot 143 and the interior colour given there is “light green” so I would go lighter rather than darker.

Wallabys to win

Vert Protectif is zinc chromate, and the shade depended on which supplier or factory used what.

So… A very light shade of zinc chromate, then??? Almost like a cross between Mitsubishi Interior Green and Gray Green, maybe??? I’ll play around with the shades…

Thanks,
