About “Tora, Tora, Tora”, I would try to get the Japanese long version which has a few extra scenes.

A Bridge Too Far - has this classic been mentioned? Along with the original Midway, it was one of the first war movies I saw in the theater.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Rocketeer

Bloody hell how bigs your dvd shelf?

I forgot to put in my list the movie Darkest Hour. A really good war drama film about Winston Churchill.

@Aggieman
Chronicles of Narnia? Doesn’t seem like it should be included. I don’t count that as being any sort of “war” movie.

Well, “War Horse” wasn’t a WWII movie! :laughing:

@Karljeff72 I forgot to mention “Dark Blue World”, about Czech pilots in the Battle of Britain. Uses “Battle of Britain” outtakes for the fight scenes.

A most kick ass list! Many titles I should do look up. Check out these guys: Cross of Iron, Last Days of the Nazis, and Downfall.

I only included Chronicles of Narnia due to the impact that WWII has on that story - it is Heinkels bombing London that prompts the parents to send the kids to the English countryside. But yes, it is not technically a war movie.

Oh, I forgot about Downfall. I have that one as well.

Isn’t Downfall where the internet got those “Hitler Rants” memes? I like the one about the Airfix Spitfire.

I would agree with most here, but may I also add The Cruel Sea, The Battle of the River Plate, Angels One Five, Pork Chop Hill, Cast a Giant Shadow, Went the Day Well, The Way Ahead. The latter 2 were filmed during WWII with the first showing the fear of the British, whilst the latter was a surprising film for WWII. The Cruel Sea made many who were there cry, it was too realistic (actually toned down). Pork Chop Hill is a rare Korean War film, and Cast a Giant Shadow about the 1948 Israeli War of Independence (pity the stupid love part, totally fictional, but they felt they needed a love interest).
