I’m working on the 1/144 Revell Fletcher-class destroyer and am going to paint her in Measure 22. I have spent several weeks trying to find an equivalent paint for WW2 5-H Haze Gray, 5-N Navy Blue and 20-B Deck Blue, only to be confused by seemingly contradictory information about shades, tints, numbers, etc. Can someone please give me the brand and number of the closest available match for those three paints?

This is pretty easy. Testor’s Model Master has all three of those colors, which are correct for Measure 22. At least a couple of those can be found in acrylic; all of them in enamel.
I buy them on Amazon, who sells them from Scalehobbyist.com. Or they do too.
I would say if/ when you find the paint, buy two each of 20-B and 5-N, and four 5-H.
I buy four at a time, because well you never know if they will become no longer available.
I like the way they look.
Nice model, be sure to keep us all up on the build.
BTW what is the clan? Mine is obvious, family from north of Saint Andrews.
One more question- what ship? USS Morrison was a square bridge; yours is round.
AK Interactive paints:
Set One includes 20B Deck Blue, 5H Haze Gray, 5O Ocean Gray, 5N Navy Blue, 5S Sea Blue, and 5L Light Gray.
Set Two includes 5D Dark Gray, 5P Pale Gray, Standard Navy Gray #5 (Interwar color), Flight Deck 21, Neutral Haze Gray (post-war color), and hull red.
In addiiton Tru-color paints http://trucolorpaint.com/ has a very complete line of paints, also acrylic.
In enamels, there is the aforementioned Model Master items. The better choice may be ColourCoats; formerly by White Ensign Models now by Sovereign. They are very accurate colors but are hard to find. You will definately need to order them in
Oh, and by the way. There is no FED-STD number assigned to any of the WWII naval colors. They were even outside of the ANA standard of the era. Most of the colors were made obsolete by the end of the war and as such they were not included in FED-STD-595 which was a product of the 50s.
Those colors were developed with Snyder and Short, and they are excellent. As a side note, when going through a phase building Regia Aeronautica models, Colourcoats were the very best source of “Mimetico” Italian camouflage.
One thing I wish to say is that often there are questions, often from new members, about how to mix or compare colors using charts.
It doesn’t really work, and it IMO kind of does not quite understand the effort that people who formulate paint expend, in every way based on visual comparisons to historic physical records.
I really wish that people would not take much from things like the IPMS Stockholm charts.
The AK Interactive set has made my life easier in painting US Navy ships.

Many thanks to everyone! This was just what I needed. To answer GMorrison, the tartan is Royal Stewart and is the tartan of the band I used to play with. Also, I don’t really know which ship it’s going to be yet. I like the Measure 22 scheme so I’ll see which round-bridge Fletchers had that and go from there.

I had cats and they were the best assistants. They could always find anything I dropped [;)]. Currently I have a big Lab. He is only interested in things with Wings. Seems partial to the port side. Carried off an old F4U-1 that I wanted to put tape on for the oil leak area on the upper fuselage. It’s now my version of a Cactus Air Force spare parts supply.
