WW2 BATTLES--PEARL HARBOR 2005 (aug 7 - - december 7 07:55am) finished

yes folks i am starting early but i want to promote a pearl harbor group build for 2005. this build will entail all aspects and subjects of the attack. with a beginning date of august 7, 2005 and ending 7:55 am your time december 7, 2005.

the rules:

-all a/c, ships, vehicles, and equipment involved in the attack. military or civilian. and yes that means autos if you can find a pic of one to use.

-all pe, am, and special stuff is ok

-everyone will be welcome.

-multiple builds of the same subject perfectly acceptable

what this means is all subjects are covered. everyone is invited. the end date and time is to coincide with the beginning of the attack.

of course the most important part of this

Well of course i’m interested Joe, i missed the 2004 Build so i’m not going to miss this one[tup]
Put me down fo a Zero from the Akagi, Tamiya 1/48[;)]definate…

I never finished the 2004 build. I think this is enough notice for me to prepare. Something to look forward to after the Blacksheep build.

Since I’m mostly done with my Zero from last year, Put me down for a Nichimo 1/48 B5N2 “Kate”.

Joe, you know I have a 1/350 Arizona I am eager to build.

Scott

this is shaping up faster than i thought it would. as this build will be on at least two web sites, when you get to the building stage if you wish to post on just one that will not be a problem. the finished i will set up a photobucket account and put them all there. i am not going to put down the kits yet it is way too early, and this is not in concrete(it is, afterall just a hobby) these are just those who showed an interest.

joe

Hello,

I will build and paint a Japanese pilot figure, if acceptable?

R. Merz

Put me down for a couple of 48 scale ‘Kate’ and ‘Val’ from the Hasagewa range

Dose that mean we are subjest to a few kits out there?

That would mean you yourself would have to referee

Tough job your’e taking on…but I would still like to partake in this build…

One other question is, its not a dio, just a kit, right?
Sorry about all the quotes I’ve done…just learned how to quote today…[:D][:D][:D]
Me is not puter savvy, me is puter dumby…[:o)]

RobertMerz and LoneWolf1Seven you are in. this i hope is an overwhelming task but i am ready for it. there are dozens of posibilities for kits. hundreds of subjects. literally thousands of possibilities. i am going to try to get some kind of a list for kits that are available. i will also try to get a list of decals available. the rest as they say is up to you.

joe

ARRRRGGHHHH!!! Joe you had to do it… didn’t ya! Just when I thought I had the will to resist just one more GB you come up with this! hahah actually the timing is ok… put me down for I dunno what yet…

hey… are ships/AC from the carriers that were SUPPOSED to be there but weren’t acceptable? you know me and my love of naval AC…

http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22428

a start. this is the reference thread i began a while ago. hope it helps some.

joe

tom i will allow the enterprise but only as she appeared that day. i allow this because she was nearly at the harbor on that morning. her escorts had arrived on saturday and her planes were inbound on the final leg of a search. they actually arrived durring the attack.

now as for links. i ask no i plead with you if you find good sites link us up. sharing info is the most important part of these builds.

joe

thanks joe, it wasn’t the ship I was interested in, but the AC on her… actually I read the other thread posted here and got my answer I think… (the talk about F4F-3’s and OS2U’s) oh yeah and PBY’s

can someone tell me what japanese fighters (single seat) and what versions were used in the attack?

tank the a6m2 type 21 was the japanese single engine fighter used. it was brand new for the voyage and performed very well.

joe

tom the navy had sbd-2’s, sb2u-3’s, pby-1’s, pby-5’s, sbd-1’s, os2u’s, f4f-3’s, and f4f-3a’s. if you would like more info let me know. i can give you the units and such.

joe

ok here is where i sound like a know it all. i am by no means an expert on this subject and will never profess to be one. but i have spent a great deal of time reading and researching this subject.

joe

Joe, confirming that I’m in. Special Hobby have a 1/72 SB2U (actually, they have 2), but it must be the same kit as the MPM one.

dj i dont know how in the world i missed you. got you on the list now though.

joe

i’d be interested in this build… this will be my first attempt at an aircraft as I am a diehard treadhead… so if anyone could suggest a good japanese fighter as a 1st time build, or an american one for that matter, i would appreciate it…
