Wow, liking 1/48 armor

Just started building 1/48 scale armor after years of 1/35.
Boy have the kits improved!

My first attempt

On the bench is a Tamiya PZ III.

Sorry bout the not so good picture.

Welcome aboard Mark and that’s one heckuva small scale build bud. You’re right about things improving over the years and there is a LOT of aftermarket available now that wasn’t available even 10 years…heck even 5 years ago. 3D printing has changed the modeling industry immensely as well.

Nice! I only build in 1/48, so yeah, great armor choices now. Not as good as the 1/35 guys, but new stuff comes out every few month. And thats not counting 3d printed stuff

Back in 05 when Tamiya started putting out 1/48 they served as my springboard into 1/35 and bigger,I did enjoy them at the time here are some that I still have.

Several years ago, my old AMPS chapter had a Group Build of Tamiya 1/48 Panther Gs, and all participants received one kit donated by Brookhurst Hobbies. I don’t remember how many of us partook, but it was north of a dozen members IIRC.

This was mine

a few years later during COVID lockdowns, the club did a 4 hour online build challenge and I built and finished this 1/48 Tamiya KĂĽbelwagen in 4 hours.

I do like these 1/48 kits. I do wish that they had started thier 1/48 line many years sooner and had a wider selection of post WWII subjects.

Just to show there are still great choices in this scale, this is the suyata/ustar panther with full interior

Waikong, didn’t you run a 1/48 Group Build on the old forum?

I did indeed! You have a good memory. Maybe its time to start another one after I finish my current p38. Like to alternate between atmor and aircraft yo keep it interesting.
