I picked up my DML Tiger I today and it is incredible, amazing and fantastic all rolled up into one kit. I don’t know where to start. The tray with the brass shells (and plastic ones in the kit), the metal barrel, the bucket, the uniforms and everything else in this box. The instructions are good, but they will need to be read a couple of times before building as a lot of steps are packed into the instruction guide. I don’t think anyone could be disappointed with this kit.
Yeah, the 'structions are a bit busy aren’t they. I’m a bit disappointed that they didn’t put the air recognition flag in there like was first advertised, but that’s a small thing.
One of the things I thought was cool is that all the road wheels have the part number on them in little, bitty numbers. That way, you (I) can cut a bunch of them off the sprues first, then start clean up and paint them without trying to figure out which is which later.
One part that might have me a bit confused, though, is on one of the single road wheel types (can’t remember which part number), I can’t tell which way goes toward the hull. But I’ll get it figured out at before I start gluing them on, I’m sure.
And congrats on getting that ton of plastic in your hands!
I haven’t seen instructions this busy since I started to build the Armo pt-76. I have some aftermarket swastika flags that will work as air recognition. I can snail mail a couple if you want them. There are too many on the sheet and I probably won’t use them all. I had thought about cutting off part of the “u” on the tire name to turn it an “L”, but after seeing how small the lettering is, I may just leave it as is. The one thing I really like is the brass “fuse caps?” (not sure what to call them) for the brass shells. Very nice touch on Dragon’s part.
[#ditto] on all that, Erik. I’ve been working on it a bit, but I can’t way to get into it full force!
I did cut the end of the “U” off. Went pretty well and easily with a sharp #11 and a headstrap magnifier.
I got mine yesterday afternoon and I’ve just been too stunned to speak. The postal carrier probably thought I was nuts, as I met him down by the street in his little white Jeep!
I looked over the instructions, too, and I got the same impression–that they were busy busy busy–but that’s just a small thing next to all that’s in this kit! It’s simply amazing, to me, with all the neat little PE and metal bits and just…everything.
Can’t wait to get started on this one (I’m doing research right now on it, argh!)
Congrats, guys. Now where is that “Jealous” smiley when you need him?
What is with tank 121(?) being gray on the box but the directions calling for feldgrau and white camo. They could have at least mentioned that they originally were Panzergrau, then a green was added as camo and then in winter they added some white. Sorry- minor gripe. Still bitter I don’t have my little flag that was supposed to be in there
Geez, I want one of these so bad. I just don’t know how I’m going too sneak it into the stash? Semper Fi, mike
“The doctor has diagnosed me with Panthera Tigris Tankus disease. The only hope for me is to buy this kit”
Get it now and worry about the consequences later…[:p]
Or get it into the house and rearrange your stack to make it look like you have had it for a long time.
Rearranging the stack is a GREAT trick!
…not that I would ever, EVER do that…
…but yeah, man, buy the thing! It’s easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission!
A nice, hefty, box filled with goodies. I may actually have to read the instructions this time!
This kit may have to migrate to the top of my “to build” stack!
