Wolf's Picture of the Day - 13 April 2005

Alrighty, back to some really cool stuff. This is a nice inflight shot of an O-47 from the 120th OS, Colorado National Guard.

USAF Photo

At the time this photo was taken, the unit’s insignia was a cougar… and this is still true of the 120th FS CO ANG today. However, the 120th previously had as its insignia a yellow swastika on a red background.

I don’t know when the change of insignia occured but it probably had something to do with the ascension to power in Germany of the Nazi party. This is yet another example of the widespread and good-natured use of what has become the most misunderstood and most maligned symbol in world history.

Fade to Black…

That’s cool! Can’t believe that prop distortion!

Not onlly does he show us cool and unusual pictures, but he teaches us a little about history. Thanks, again.

Kurt

Great pic of a seldom seen aircraft. Thanks for the Post.

Regards, Rick

They fly F-16’s now, used to share the same base with them(seen them in P-80’s, F-86D’s, F-100C’s they took those to South Vietman, A-7D’s). In my day the State AG started as an EM with that unit and he believed in taking care of his men, he actually bought me a beer one day.
