Which kit maker makes the nicest one?
I’m not a rivet counter, so discrpencies are a non-issue for me, what I’d like to know is which kit requires the least amount of fiddling with to get it to go together?

I have not done it yet, but the Dragon looks excellent. Couldn’t tell you much more than that, sorry. SteveM
Dragon’s is the most accurate, but is also harder to build with lots of small parts. Tamiya’s is a fairly accurate kit that builds up pretty easy with no issues.
Hi, i am completely new to modeling, I have only built 2 models. However, I thought maybe my idea would be a help. Basically, its just how HeavyArty said it, which is usually how it is, he knows his stuff. Anyways, I have built a Tamiya and a Dragon model. The tamiya model was a very fun and quite easy build and in the end it still looked great, minus a couple tiny details. The dragon model, was extremely detailed and realistic, however it had lots of small pieces, and was sometimes frustrating since i had a few issues with directions, but with that he end result i was very satisfied with.
I am normally a huge Dragon fan but in the case of the Jagdpanther the Tamiya kit is hands down better designed and a snap to build. The Dragon kit has the merit of indi links and some of the parts are more accurate but all in all the Tamiya kit is better IMHO! Except of course for the rubber band tracks but thats another issue… :^)
Good luck with whatever you choose…
I’ve heard only good things about the Tamiya kit. It comes with the schurzen, which Dragon doesn’t have and the horrible one piece tracks. You can get the Dragon early with an aluminum barrel in special packed ones. Tamiya is a Late model, so no zim is required. Dollar for dollar, I’d go with Dragon.
If you want to get the Tamiya kit…get the 90’s issue and not the early 70’s release. The 70’s release is not well detailed and has some major inaccuracies. The 90’s release is much much better. The Tamiya kit comes with the rubber band style tracks. While not as good as the individual track links (in simulating sag), it can be made to sag so it is not that bad IMHO.
Shown below is a modified Tamiya 70’s era Jadgpanther model.
Good luck. [:)]
beware of the dragon early jagdpanther kit, and this also includes just about every re-kitted gunze panther chassis kits. it does offer indy tracklinks, BUT, every single fricking link has a sink hole, quality ranges from close to fixable to downright bad (proven to be a common thing since it’s seen in my panther G command version, artillery observation version, jagdpanther early, and the coellian flak panzer.) and even the details on the track, and actually nor the body, really measures up to the tamiya late version jagdpanther. i ended up preped a tamiya panther G rubberband track for it.
Tamiya for buildability for sure. Clean up of seams and attachment points will be much easier.

I am about 45% finished with my Jagdpanther, Sd. Kfz. 173, early version kit # 9012 from dragon so far it has turned out ok but i am not looking forward to the single track links would rather have a one piece . i haven’t done the tamiya jag so i can’t coment on that one but here are a few pics good luck
Late model Jag from Tamiya it is then.
I detest Dragon kits, and it’s good to know on the Gunze Sangyo ones as well.
Cheers!
Ya, you can’t go wrong with the Tamiya Jagdpanther. That was one of the first armor kits I built about 2 years ago. [:)]
I also have the JagdPanther Late model from Tamiya and I also purchased the Tamiya Panther G Indipendant track links and some King Tiger 88mm ammo. Though now I’ll need to get an interior set so that I can show off the ammo and I do have an engine set for the JagdPanther though I will need to get another one for my Tiger I mid production.
Yep go with the Tamiya one. I built the 1/24 scale one when I was younger and still have it in my display case.
Oh yeah don’t forget to add this interior set http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=JA63526 for a real good kit and its under 60 bucks too.
