Greetings fellow modelers! This is Trumpeter’s 1/700 scale Graf Spee kit I am building for my friends at Stevens Intl. She, (or is it he for German warships?), will be OOTB except for the addition of P/E railings. The humble beginnings:

The color plan I will be following:

The hull glued and painted:

Boot stripe added:

Painting and washing the decks:

Here I have the main deck fitted to the hull:

Main deck glued with deck details picked out in MM light sea gray:

The upper decks also got painted and washed:

Next was the construction of the upper deck houses:

Here’s the bridge and funnel:

And here is the superstructure mounted to the upper deck. I also started the rigging:

That’s it for now. I hope to have an update soon. Thanks for lookin’ and comments/critiques always welcome! Happy modeling,
Mark

Hello fellow modelers! just a small update tonight. I got the aft deck house built, painted , washed and P/E attached:

This is her present state. Hope to get some more done tomorrow:

Thanks for lookin’ and Happy modeling!
col hogan - Thanks for the reply! I use Model Master enamels for all my models and various water based acrylic or water colors for my washes. I used Game Ink sepia for the deck and a product called the Detailer for the rest of the model.

Very nice work so far. I didn’t even know Trumpeter put this one out. Looking forward to seeing more of your work…Cheers Mark
Wow, great method of applying washes to get the detail to “pop”…many try but few get the kind of results you have on this example…[Y][Y]…gonna be a fine model.
I wouldn’t have guessed it was 1/700. Great use of the washes. I love the deck.
WOW! Thanks for the encouragement guys! Here’s the next update - getting close to the end!
I’ve got the ships boats fitted:

I added the cranes too:

The torpedo launchers were next:

And the secondary armament assembled, ready to be fitted:

I’m adding the rest of the railings tonight, and then the floatplane. I should have some more pics up in a few days when she will be finished. Thanks for lookin’ and Happy modeling!
