WIP Monogram 1:48 Visible B-17G "Flying Fortress"

Toshi,

It’s obvious that you get along very well with PE parts! Nice job! Your build is coming along wonderfully.

Bob

Oh My Toshi, you’re doing an excellent job on this great kit. I’m so glad you’re posting this build.

To Bick,

My goal is to continue to keep a high standard in each build. To keep my model standards as high as possible. Of course with out your support it would be more of a task at hand as oppose to producing medeocrocity work! I just hope that everyone enjoys my products and then some.

Take care my friend,

Toshi

Schuuuweeeet!!!

Good morning, Toshi. I have two questions.

  1. How did I miss this thread? It’s been here a month.

  2. How was I not aware of this kit? I thought I had either built or at least been aware of every “visible” kit Monogram ever made!!

You are doing a knock-out job, and man have you and the guys whetted my appetite to build one. Thanks for this WIP. I so enjoy watching your WIP’s, Toshi.

BTW, about your PE bending jig (the “Bug”), I finally saw one in person at the show last week. Was very impressed with the quality. Though the design of mine is the same, it is all molded plastic of some sort and you made a good choice going with the small shop.

Toshi, there is just no slowing you down. You are a speed demon on these builds. Great work my man.

BK

Well nuts, it looks like this kit isn’t available anywhere. [:'(]

Where and when did you find yours, Toshi? How about you other guys with this kit in your stashes??

To Mr. Greg,

Prior to the Revell 1:48 B-17G Flying Fortress build, I was working on my Tamiya 1:32 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero Fighter Model 21 “Zeke”. It could be that it was just overlooked at some point. All is good now that you’ve been able to see the fruition of the “Visible” B-17G.

As for the question regarding the visible Revell/Monogram kits, I was aware of the V8, Human Body, Phantom Mustang, and finally this project here that I’m working on now.

I could never afford the “Visible” B-17G kit as it was way to expensive for me at that point in my life. Being a newspaper delivery boy, my income was limited at best. This kit was an astronomical $25.00! Anyway, once this project is complete, I have a Trumpeter 1:32 TBF-1C Avenger to be built. Thank you Greg for always touching base with me, I’m always most honored sir.

Toshi

To BrandonK,

Yah, when you’re having so much fun, time is of no concern to me. I’m just really enjoying putting this kit together! Thanks for the read and reply!

Toshi

Greg, I found my “Visible” B-17G on eBay for approximately $35.00, give or take a few dollars here and there! I’ve seen a few “Visible” B-17G Flying Fortress on eBay just the other day. Check it out before it gets purchased.

Toshi

Greg, I just recalled that there was also a visible Polaris Submarine as well!

Toshi

Thanks for the buying info, Toshi. I’ve yet to buy anything on Ebay but one never knows.

Visible Polaris? Oh yeah! I built that back around 1970 I think. I remember being proud of my paint work. And also being surprised how much room the missiles and launch tubes occupied in the sub.

Thanks for the memories.

No problem at all. It was my pleasure.

Toshi

I found my visible on Amazon from a obscure seller in Florida. I got it for a song, something like $40. They pop up for time to time, but not too often.

BK

Well, today was a fun and exciting day! I either was glueing PE or trying to figure out what PE goes to where. I think I figured some of this out as it looks like certain PE parts belong there. After scratching my head, I decided to do a dry test run, just to see what and where everything goes together. I still have the tail gunner and portions of some panels that need to be installed, that can wait till tomorrow. Please see below.

Toshi

Looking great Toshi. Looks like your about close that up.

Thank you, I still have much to do before I can close up the fuselage.

Toshi

Nice work, you’re making some serious progress now!

Toshi, that interior is looking happily busy and very good.

Brandon and Toshi, thanks for the input on where you found your visible kits.

Zoweee, Toshi -

You have taken an ambitious project to near completion in just about record time, (even for you.) It looks just great, this will look so good among your collection. Thanks for sharing.
