Winter Sturm

Verrry Nice.

Hmm…

I see mig pigs in the background.

Yep, you nailed it. MIG Pigments. Looking through all my stuff I found a MIG mud set that I forgot I had. Comes with several colors and a resin base. To this I added some plaster of paris, fine sand and some static grass. This mush became my base coat. (First pic) After letting this set up over-night I added clumps of pigments setting it with turpinoid. The result is what you see in the second pic. I think it turned out pretty cool.

WOW nice job on the mud it looks great!

WOW

I’m likin’ this one a lot.

That winter whitewash is top notch…your excellent mud-mixture is going to set this guy apart. Nice work! [8D]

Very nice work there so far. I really like the mud, really convincing.

Terry.

Some nice mudding effects going on their Christian, looks right at home with the white wash. [tup]

Well I’m calling this one done. My only regret is that I didn’t spend more time on construction. Ah well. Next time. Here’s this one.

Of course any and all comments welcome. Cheers.

Very Convincing weathering! I like it! Those winter schemes look easy until you try to do one! Very Cool! [tup]

Great looking winter camo and mud. Well done.

!http://www.homepurchaseprogram.com/monster2_files/image003.gifTriple A man, but…http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo301/enodaed/WinterSturm003.jpg you could have done it a bit better if you had closed that seam up on the front of the hull. I don’t think it’s a big deal though 'cause you obviously have the necessary skills to fix it if you had wanted to.

!http://th42.photobucket.com/albums/e329/sportstalknet/smileys/th_greatjob5fx.pngThis really came out quite well.

I have to keep reminding myself when looking at this one that it’s 1/48 and not 1/35. Looks like a nicely worn and all-around well-used piece of whitewashed equipment. [tup] Only thing I would recommend would be to pick out the lenses on the rear Notek light (green) and the brake light (red) as a small detail. Is this one destined for a dio?

I realy like the mud it looks sooo real! Overall that’s one very nice build!

Great work.

Very good finish !!! Lots of sublties and things to admire on it … as mentioned a few very minor things you could touch up which will only add to it. I often pick up things on my final pics that I missed or could have finished better … course I dont also go back and fix em [:D]

cheers

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. That seam is why I stated earlier that I wished I’d spent more time on construction. I was so eager to try my hand at the whitewash that I rushed the build. I truely did not expect it to come out very nice so I wasn’t all that concerned with fit. Go figure. My worst build and my best finish to date. All on on ehunk of plastic. I’ll be doing this one again for sure. Thanks again. Cheers.

Thats amazing enodaed! I have yet to create a great winter scheme like this or make mud as convincing as yours! The final result should look fantastic!

enodaed: TOP NOTCH BUILD!..even better at 1:48! Fantastic weathering…all in the right places and tastefuly done[dinner]. Your chipping and scratching skills are exemplory along with your mud technique, well done[tup][tup]! Any chance she’s competition bound?..she should be…

…by the way, did you follow the old ModelX mag’ article/tutorial from about a 1-1/2 back for this build?

Just one word to describe this model, Beautiful [bow]

Mmmm. Sorta. It was late in the build when I dicovered that mag. in the bargain bin at my LHS. I didn’t know how I was going to do the mud and this provided the perfect solution. Uncanny isn’t it. You got a good eye my friend.

Perfect, Christian!

Really just a perfect job of weathering and mud application!

Seriously impressive–and I won’t even say “for 1/48 scale”! It’s beautiful!

Can’t wait to see what you do in 1/35!
