Im makin battle of the bulge dio, got everything ready but what do i put under the snow? what kind of layout…sand…foam…? Appreciate any help. thanks.

I used plaster of paris, its white so if you miss a spot you’re covered.
I’d say it depends on how much snow you want to model. If you’re looking for abundant snow, deep accumulation, then yeah, plaster of paris or maybe even celluclay sprayed white, then top with snow.
If you’re looking for patchy snow, minimal accumulation, you might painting the ground in a few earthy colors before applying the snow material. In any case, I’d use foam to build up the contours of the terrain and then cover it with Celluclay.
White sand and white glue and water mix,that`s all I use,spoon it on dry hit it with the glue mix. Repeat if more depth is desired. When completely dry as in rock hard add paint if not white enough.
If you require any great depth such as a tank pushing through deep snow then use styrofoam to build up the depth then use the white sand etc.
