Just a question but why are there no auto or truck GB? Just no interest?

Food for thought, How about starting one and find out what type of particpation you get? I am rather new to the site so I am still just learning how things work here but I would be willing to join myself.

I’ve found the auto section here to be rather slow. Probably because there are a number of auto specific sites. I would guess this has a big impact on the number of group builds.
I build pretty much anything so I’d participate in an auto GB if the subject interested me, the emergency vehicles GB included a few autos. Did you have anything particular in mind?
My first thought was 1040’s delivery panels…JK [:)]
Hmmmm…If I were to start an auto group build I would probably pick an era like “The 1950’s Classics” or “70’s Muscle” or just something ordinary like “Pickup Trucks”.
Another thought would be like “beaters, junkers & rust buckets”. That way we’d get to use our weathering techniques.

Recently my Father-in-law told me his Favorite car of all time was the 57 Chevy Bel-Air, so I have been planning on buying and building one for him. Wierd I know my in-laws are actualy nice lol. Also after seeing the work my wife is doing on her Cadi Escalade I may pick up that kit as well. hell if the boss lets me I will pick up any kit and help get this possible GB going. I am a novice at cars and modeling in general (my favorite is SciFi) but I am having fun learning. Lets get the ball rolling I am game, just remember some are already doing grp builds so a time allowance may be helpful, I myself are in 2 GBs Revell and Star Trek ( go figure ). Just my [2c] .

The auto group here is pretty slow, there are some guys who post on a regular basis, so do start a GB and find out.
There is the Scale Auto sister site, so you would probably find more action over there.
There is one I know of trying to get legs /forums/724780/ShowPost.aspx. Scale Auto Mag does take the bulk of the auto stuff. But I think FSM is a great do all Rep. of model building. F1, Open wheel Racing, Stock, Drag and Nascar et. all, even Motorcycle stuff is here also! Just dig around and support the idea and ya’ just might find a few people with similar intrests.[%-)][2c][tup]
Personally I wouldn’t bother going there ,
Its full of PC Lovers , say you build the General Lee you have to take the Flag off it
Bit like building a ME109 And takinig the Swatsika off it

We can try to start one here. Cars are not one of my stronger modeling area so I think it would be fun.
So what to you thinks…Cars of the 1950’s Group Build? Build any car (or truck) from 1950 thru 1959. Crub side to fully detailed, Bone stock to custom/hot rod/race. How about tax day, April 15th, for a start time?
I think I would look for a kit of a 1958 Chevrolet Impala for myself.

I could be interested, I have a fictional 1960’s era fire department I have been building. Many of the ideas for vehicles I have are from the 50’s. I also like to build old US Forest Service vehicles, I’ve been looking at a 1957 Chevy based brush engine I have some photos of.
April 15th sounds reasonable, I should have decided on something by then.
Looks like some interest in this so we’ll give a GB a try. I’ll start a thread next day or so in the GB forum.
BTW tax day is actually April 16th this year so we all gained another day…to get ready for the build that is. [:D]

There was Muscle Car GB awhile back (see here: /forums/463772/ShowPost.aspx) that was sorta successful. They do happen, but most of the action is in the other forum several other people have mentioned.
Yep…I know I could join another forum including Scale Auto’s, but I like it here for the variety. I’ll build planes, armor, sci fi…

And unfortunately SA has become a rather unpleasant place the past year or two. I’ve been part of the forum for several years but rarely do much there after some of the stuff that goes on these days. It’s too bad because there are some great people participating over there.
That’s unfortunate. I haven’t been on that forum in quite some time, so I’ve apparently missed the festivities.
