Who in their right mind would pay almost $1,500 for a kit that’s been opened and has a dent in the box?..okay, I wouldn’t pay that much even if the kit wasn’t opened nor dented.[;)]
ITC put out a bunch of odd model kits. If this one is going for this much money, my F-108 Rapier kit must be worth twice as much.

And let e get this straight–someone’s going to buy this kit, and put it on the shelf, right? So they can look at the box? PFFFFFFF. Unbelievable.
That souds like the model may be incomplete. All he has to do is inventory the parts against the instruction sheet. Some sellers refuse to do this claiming they don’t have the time. At that price you BETTER make the time! I have never heard of that company or kit either. As far as the economy being bad, just about every store I have been to is bustling with buyers so the spending money, either cash or plastic is out there.
I’ll let you guys know if it is complete when I win and receive this masterpiece.

What is even worse…at $1,600+ it is still “reserve not met”…It is not the “rarest kit”…looking it up in the plastic model collectors guide (which is 15 years old but packed with info) it was valued at ~$500 in the late 90s…there were other kit over $1000 then.
I have to agree with Karl…you are going to sell something like this you make sure it is complete!!

This guys’ been huffing way too much cement!! If the box and plastic had been unopened, MAYBE worth $1000…MAYBE. But as is…heeelllllll no!!
On a tangential note; I NEVER bid on, or buy, anything that’s listed with a “reserve price”–to me it just says that the guy’s a greedy #$^@%#^! The way I look at it, if you want to get a certain price for it, then list it as “Buy it now!”, or start the bidding at the price you want and be done with it.
A reserve price says to me that the seller doesn’t isn’t even considering letting you get a bargain or make out on a lucky day. In my thinking, that’s part of the “ethical side” of eBaying–when I put my one of my model stashes up there, I started the bidding for 35+ kits at like, $28.00 or so, auction-style. It eventually sold for just under $300, but someone COULD have got a real bargain–and that was the chance I took. I just can’t stand to see “greed” in people!

The Kit Collectors Clearinghouse which last listed the ITC Thor kit for $600 plus listed the ITC XF-108 for $1,000 plus. I wonder what his reserve is?
Some people use eBay as an informal tool to help determine what an item is worth. They place an item for sale at a high, probably unrealistic reserve, and let the bidders loose. When the auction is over, no one reaches the reserve.
Basically for the cost of the initial listing fee, you have a ballpark figure of what that item is worth.

It might be rare, and hard to come by but the way kits get reissued from time to time!!! Imagine if the person actually pays for the kit and lets say that it is complete then 5 years down the road someone picks up the mold and reissue for $19.95. thats how it was with rommels rod and the tijuana taxi, people paying between $50.-200.00 on e-bay, now there on the shelves for $19.98…
