Who read or remembers the comic book 'Sargent Rock & his howling Commandos?'

I know it was inspiration to build a blue Panzer IV and call it a ‘Tiger’ All inaccuracies aside who here can relate to that classic comic book series of the 80’s? Bonus points if you have a few at home and can post a picture of a cover or two![cmra][Y][H]

Thanks and looking forward to some replies![I] Has me wanting to get a few issues for diorama inspiration and research material.[^o)]

Dude, I read Sgt. Rock in the late 50’s/early 60’s.

Hi All! (First post)

I had a few issues I purchase at a use book store in the mid 70’s

I think you’ve got your comic book sergeants mixed up. I’m fairly certain the howling commandos belonged to Sgt Fury. Sergeant Rock was the top-kick of Easy co.

You’re more likely to find your blue panzer in a sergeant Rock comic. They seemed to pop up pretty much every issue.

I had a whole pile of them back in the mid 70’s. I can still remember some of the stories- I had read them several times. I wish I still had them. Have they ever been reprinted, or just available in collectors stores? Comics were a part of my life when I was a kid- I’m surprised my kids have no interest in them, even when I suggest I’ll buy them one. I guess the DS supercedes the imagination!

Wow,thats a blast from the past !! gotta be at least 42 years since I had a Sgt Rock comic book in my hands.but they were pretty cool @ 12 cents each, were they the same soldiers who always ended up lost somewhere and battling dinosaurs ?

I was po’d when they went up to 12 cents!

No, that was

Excellent AJ thanks for the memories [t$t]

uhhh, guilty! And I’m pretty sure I still have some in storage at home, I’ll try to take a look.

Dinosaurs vs tanks?!?! Don’t remember those, but what else could a pre-teen boy want?!

Yes! Great replies fellas! I did not realize the comics were that old, I just remembered reading them in the 80’s at my friends mom’s second hand store.

‘Sgt Fury and his howling Commandos!’ & ‘Sgt. Rock & Easy Co.’

Thanks buff for sorting that out, 3 gold stars and bars for you![][][*]

I resemble that remark…

I [ht] quotes…as the great Jeff Spicolli said:

‘Awesome, totally awesome!’ & ‘Ahhh gnarly!’

‘Tanks vrs. Dinosaurs’ now there is inspiration for a cool diorama!

Tanks everyone for opening the memory bank on these classic comic books![H][Y]

Anytime. Glad I could help

I had a boat load of them. Sgt Fury, Sgt Rock, Fighting Army and Fighting Marines (I think). The art work in Fighting Marines was terrible. Everybody looked the same! I can’t believe some of you guys paid 12 cents for them. The last price I remember paying was 35 cents, and that would be in late 70’s or very early 80’s. I tossed them eventually.

Loved Sgt. Rock and Weird War.

Heres a few covers for ya blue Panzers and all.

Dont you just love the red around the Balkencruz lol!

At one time there was talk of a movie being made. Supposedly there was even script floating around.

Double bonus point if you remember Rocks first name[;)]

It was Frank…

and he had a brother…

Brother’s name was Larry… KIA in the PTO

panzerguy,

You rock! er rule. Tanks a million gold stars! I had to quote just so the comic covers could be enjoyed on the second page! Awesome, totally awesome! That is what i’m talkin’ about[H]
