I used water based whitout to replace some sanded of weld seams on my AFV Club Uboat and they turned out very nice. Couldnt get any thing else to work on such a small model, I got the model primed and am now concerned about masking over the seams. Will it pull off, I will be using Tamiya tape. I primed with Floguil solvent based paint.

Now its painted thin styrene strips would not work as well if onto bare plastic with styrene solvent cement.
Obviously it a small scale, 1/144 or smaller? The primer is flat so strips of paper could be applied with diluted white glue. It can be re-softened to work in some texture or repositioned. Once the top coat goes on it will seal the paper into the paint.
I tested it on bare sprue, something I should have done before using it. It aheres very well. I dont think regular masking tape would pull it off. If anyone knows what this stuff is made I sure would like to know.

I’ve found that liquid White Out works great for sealing small seams and the divits caused by shrinkage caused sometimes when styrene cools when removed from the mold. Simply apply to the damaged area, let dry for 5 minutes or so and sand smooth. Doesn’t shrink after it dries and doesn’t seem to react to enamel paint (the paint of my choice)

White-out works well for filling tiny seams and scratches. It tends to crack later if applied to a large area.
I have used white glue for weld seams- it is a little thicker than white out. I apply with a toothpick.
