I checked out those sites. I have neaver used photo etch befor but it seems a little expensive. Is their cheaper detail sets that would still give me a nice model? Or maby a cheaper brand?

I’d recommend the White Ensign Model web site. Yes it’s from England, but the only time I tried to order WEM stuff from Pacific Front they took 6 weeks to get me some stuff, and another 4 weeks to get the rest. Officially they have a book backordered now for the last 4 months. Got tried of waiting and went to LHS and bought it.
However, I’ve ordered off the WEM web site twice, and both times had everything ordered within a week and a half. They are good people who take good care of you. And even though the prices are in pounds sterling, the credit card companys make the conversion automaticly.
Photo-etch is not cheap no matter where you get it. Tom’s modelworks, and Gold Metal Models also make sets for the Hornet (you’d be converting a Hornet to the Yorktown, right?).
Tom’s would probably be the cheapest.
There are cheaper 'generic" sets if you just want to try
your hand at it in a simple way.
There are sets of railings, hatches, doors, ladders, that sort
of thing. Just search the sites you were given above and you
can see what’s available.

Tom’s Modelworks makes a good set for Hornet, especially if you haven’t worked with PE before. WEM and GMM are much thinner and more difficult to work with.
