Hopefully somebody can help me out here. There’s several products produced by Whirlybird that I’d really like to pick up. I found out about them at HKN, but when I click on the e-mail link to Whirlybird and tried to send them (him) an e-mail it came back as not being a valid address. I e-mailed Lyndon Hill but they said that they are selling what they have and not ordering more from Whirlybird due to supply issues.
Sooooooo…does anybody know where to get their stuff, who carries it or how to get in touch with the company? They’ve supposedly got some AM resin rotor blades for the Chinook and some decals (Arctic schemed USAF SH-19 and SH-21). HKN has also shown other resin products and decals I’d be interested in as well.
Or you could try Luchtvaart Hobby Shop (http://www.aviationmegastore.com/). Although they don’t get everything they need (the Bell206 conversion set as mentioned by Cobrahistorian is on backorder for some time now), they appear to get some Whirlybird stuff every now and then.
Hmmmm…having been born in Eindhoven Holland I’d like to give the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop some business, but when I did a search on their site for whirlybird, the only thing that came up were 7 kits that included Whirlybird decals.
Lindon Hill has some stuff, but as I initially posted they are just selling off what they have…not ordering any Whirlybird products due to “past supply issues” (Lindon Hill’s words).
It’s too bad since I like Jon would like to get several of the B-206 resin kits, Chinook comosite rotor sets and the SH-21B arctic schemed decal sets. I had earlier contacted the head of Whirlybird asking if he would consider producing that decal set in 1/48 scale following the Fonderie Miniature release. But the e-mail no longer works.
Dang…[:(!]
Does anyone over at HKN have any info on Whirlybird? They keep showing their suppposed “soon to be released” stuff.
Whirlybirds decals and Whirlybits conversions are produced by Roger Evans here in the UK. I have a 2 page leaflet he sent me a couple of months ago. Contact details are
I think he is actually a Church of England vicar who produces the Whilybird items in his spare time so production is slow and a bit erratic and usually in small quantities which is probably why retailers can’t get stuff fast enough but I have had no problems dealing with him.
His list has SH-19A decals as WB72014 - £3.50 and the H-21B decals are WB72025 also at £3.50.
WBA72034 are replacement composite rotor blades for the Italeri Chinook at £6.00.
Unfortunately the 1/48 Bell 206 conversion is marked as not available at present.
Overseas postage is 10% of order value with a minimum of £1.50.
There is an alternative route. Whirlybirds seems to have a link with Heritage Aviation Models
www.heritageaviationmodelsltd.com . This fellow has a store on eBay KATANAKOLLECTABLES and most of the Whirlbirds/Whirlybits stuff is on sale there.
