Actually I just didn’t feel like watching a war movie. I’ve been more concerned with my own conflict with the V.A.
Maybe this weekend I might watch The Tanks Are Comming. It might be a bit sorney at times but still one of my favorites. I will not watch bloody movies. Kelly’s Heroes or sink the Bismark fine but just can’t get into PVT. Ryan or others like that. I have a copy of Band of Brothers and put my Father’s parachute patch in the can with the CDs.
Does anybody remember Armed Forces Day? Each year when I was growing up we would go to Picatinny Arsennal for their open house. They would have demostrations, tank and weapon displays a decent museum, a bit small but the place is usually not open to the public for obvious reasons, and war games.
Yes I remember Armed Forces Day. One of the cities here has a parade for that every year, Supposedly the largest west of the Mississippi …
Two other films I might recommend for. Veterans Day/Armistace Day next year are The Thin Red Line or We Were Soldiers Once. Both are quite appropriate for the November timeframe and post WWI era.
Dive Bomber, with Errol Flynn and Fred McMurray. A golden oldie from 1941, and interestingly, in colour !
