Hi,
I just finished Tamiya’s 1:48 scale spitfire. I would like to build the 1:48 scale zero (unfortunately I can’t afford the 1:32 scale). Which Tamiya Zero is the best with regard to fit and ease of build?
Thanx

Here’s the one I built a year or so back. It was one of my first builds back to the hobby. Not many parts, easy to paint, and $15. Perfect for a newbie.
In 1/48, their A6M2 Zero and A6M2N Rufe float plane (early 70’s molds) are the easiest to build. They are older kits with lower parts count. Their A6M3 Hamp and A6M5c Zero are a bit newer (early 80’s molds) with more parts, and better detailed. Their newest A6M3 Model 22 and A6M5 kits are the latest in accuracy and detail. And also the most expensive. The older kits are far more affordable.
Hi,
Thanx for the replies. I should have made it clear but I dont mind high parts count. I just want a model that fits together well and one that I dont have to spend a lot of time filling and sanding. So what i’m looking for is the best fitting and most accurate zero that Tamiya makes in 1:48 scale.
Thanx

1/48 A6m5/5a & A6M3/3A Are latest and best

I have built the newer A6M5/5a as well as the older A6M2. The 5/5a is the best Zero kit on the market IMO. Think of the 2 like one might think of a bit more detailed Monogram Zero, easy to build with a few more details than the ancient Monogram kit has. My rec. would be for the 5/5a or 3/3a, which you can get for roughly $50.
There is no reason to be afraid of the Hasegawa 1/48 Zeros. Very nice kits.
